Unlike other email programs I cannot find a way of clicking on the "to" button and seeing a drop down list of contacts which allows you to just click on the one you want. Is there a way around this or do I have to frantically recall who I am sending to, typing the first letter, and select from that list? Jim

The way I have mine configured is to open Thunderbird to write a new email, then if you click F9 it will open your contacts down the left side of the page, then click on the contact you want, and then at the bottom click on "add to" and they are added as the contact for that email, the same for "Cc" and "Bcc"

Just start typing the name and it will give you a list of options.

I keep the address book open on the LHS, I can choose between "personal address book" and "collected addresses", I just double click what I want and it appears in the address line of my outgoing email.
