air filter

Hi all,
I know this has got to have been done but I can't find it! I want a performance air filter, but one that works, for my defender 300Tdi that i've just had the fuel pump and intercooler tweaked, heard bad stuff about K&N. What do you run in your air box's? Or are the original paper filters the best?

I had a K and N on 300tdi with bigger turbo. Pain in the ---- having to clean it and if I happened to put too much oil on it u lose power. Also a nuisance to clean out in the desert. Went back to original paper filter and didn't notice any difference in power and easy to shake out when dusty.
Dont know about other types though..

"Performance" air filters are a gimmick... If you want the best quality filter with the lowest pressure drop, see if donaldson make a synthetic media element to fit.
