Yesterday, Melbourne News showed a Service station footage of a man filling his car with petrol, next there are flames coming from where he was standing.

Cause, he was playing with his cigarette lighter "TO SEE IF IT STILL WORKED!" Does he qualify for the Darwinian award of the month?

Okay, i've got a "Lucky" lighter and I fiddle with it all the time but that seems a biiiiiiit much.
Clever lad to run straight past that big red cylinder that probably wouldn't have helped...

Note that the idiot pulled the pump nozzle out of his car thus spilling more petrol around.

First of all, it is a Darwin award, and it can only be awarded posthumously. The idiot in question is still very much alive it seems(?)

Some do escape the net. For the rest of us it may have been better if he had qualified for the award.

I was doing some spray painting in an booth, hooked up to airlines etc. When the bosses son comes in and starts flicking his lighter while sitting on a drum of Thinners.

Apparently he had about a stint of 1 week in every section of the factory, before being moved on. He didn't even get a start spray painting.

Yup, this guy is lucky to have made it to whatever age he is without doing himself some permanent injury.

However, calling the doctor who put it out a "Hero" is a bit much too...

He didn't seem to take much notice of the big red cylinder with the white band on it that would have been right next to the bucket of WATER he threw on a flammable liquid fire.... :o

Is it just me, or did he look straight at the camera before grabbing the lighter from the back seat?
Makes me wonder if it was deliberate for some reason.

As for the extinguisher, perhaps a CO2 extinguisher would have been better and the perpetrator eligible for the full Darwin Award instead of just an honourable mention.

It is just another example of the gene pool not having enough chlorine in it.

I should have said, hoodies, wearing a baseball cap underneath and wearing mockies.

The ones that wear knitted Bob Marley reggae beanies on 40 deg days can't help it though as their brain is cooked they know no better
