How many kms/how old?

Front (upper and lower) wish bone bushes
Sway bar bushes
Air springs - depending on age/distance travelled
Shock absorbers - depending on age/distance travelled
Transmission - check for shuddering check if fluid has ever been changed

Well there are two D3's at the local Land Rover dealer. The first is an 07 MY08 with 80ks and the second is an 07 MY08 with 118ks on it. The MY08 was bought new from the dealer so they should have a record of all the work done on the car I would imagine. That was one of the things I was going to look into. Just to see how it has been serviced and repaired. As well as what other work has been carried out on the car. Thanks heaps for the advice on the upper and lower arm bushes as well as the transmission.

Are they petrol or diesel?
If they are each take them both for a drive.
If you can afford it get the diesel.

They are both diesel. I would like a defender mate but I need 7 seats.

My D'fer left the factory as a seven seater.

Only the 2 front Recaro's left now.

Yeah I also need to be able to let my wife and kids be able to spend time in it with out the complaints being hurled at me due to lack of comfort. The defenders are far more durable for sure. But with a young family and reasonable distances to be covered. I think my ears would get fairly sore and my tolerance these days is getting more and more diminished. Lol.

I traded my 04 Defender TD5 110 for the D4 due to the fact my wife can't drive a manual & the lack of child restraints in the rear.

Land Rover really need to get their act together on this, it's 2012, why bother bringing out a wagon with 5 or 7 seats & not cater for children.

I'm aware they can be installed but even the cheapest small car on the market has a child seat anchor point.

Last week I test drive a 2012 Defender 110 wagon, nice improved interior, still no child seat anchor points, that engine - what were they thinking?? My old Suzuki Jimny had a better power to weight ratio & it sounds like a delivery van. They should've stuck with the TD5, very very disappointing drive.

My rant done ;-)

Timing belt change is at 140,000km. I think it was about $1000 or so to change. Think I will be change my timing belt again soon. :D

Ok thanks. This is the sort of info that helps to make an informed decission on a purchase. That can also be used as a bargaining chip for me when negotiating a price with the dealer. Thaks heaps guys for the info. I really apreciate it.

Cheers

Did you end up buying it adam? I just got myself a D3 SE 2007 and it's a beauty.... so happy to be back in the land of The Landy!!!! :D

My advice (after speaking with my local Landy expert) is stay away from the V8 and get the diesel (even though I got petrol as can't afford an extra $10k). Service history is SO important on these cars. I'd say the one being serviced by the dealer would be a good choice - especially as we all know how good the dealerships are at doing more than what is required and charging you for it!! Also you need to seriously bargain your butt off if it's from a dealer. I was able to get him to drop the price by $3,750. Push for it - and also get them to fix any paint marks/scratches etc. They did for me and with a detail too the car looks brand new.
