The other day I arrive at work as usual. As I am the first to arrive I usually back up closes to the back entrance to work. Because I am backed up to the back door, the secretaries sometimes use my rear bumper to set things as they unlock the door to come in. It was no surprise that when the last person arrived and it was raining - brought in a pair of lady boots that were sitting on my rear bumper. Well these bbots aparrently belonged to no one in the department so they were placed at the back door waiting for someone to claim.

Two days later my wife asks me " Have you seen my black boots?" I replied " You did not by accident leave them on the bumper of the Disco when you unpacked the car?"
"Yes"

Well these boots took a 16km trip from home to work, with up to speeds of 100km/hr, and about a dozen turns to arrive safely at work, still on the bumper of the Disco. And no I do not have ACE

Have to admit my wife and I had a good chuckle.

I had a similar experience with my bike computer. Placed the bike on the rack and left the computer on the rear bumper, when I got home I could not find it when unpacking.

Found it still on the rear bumper after a 40km trip up the highway from Boondall to Bellmere :)

I recently walked out of Bunnings and noticed on the way back to my Disco that "someone" had placed a pair of muddy boots on the roof of my Disco. I was a little bit annoyed initially as I wondered who would do such a thing until I got closer and noticed that they were my own boots.

It was only then that I remembered I put them somewhere safe when I unloaded the car after a camping trip a few days earlier. They'd survived a trip down the motorway, through town and a few car parks before I noticed them.

I left my favourite drinking mug on the bull bar of my disco 2 in front of the headlight after doing some work on it one night. Drove to Shepparton and back the next day along winding roads - All up around 200 plus kilometres through torrential rain. Got home and was shutting the sliding door to the shed when I saw the mug sitting on the bull bar. And it was still half full :D

I've left small items* on the back bumper bar of my disco & driven over heavily potholed roads & through a creek only to find them still there at the other end.

*When packing three small (often yelling) kids in the car I can get a bit distracted.

Fortunately I've never left the kids on the bumper.

And it's not just the Discos. I left the fuel cap on the roof of a series IIA once and did several kays before it fell off (while taking a 'short-cut' across a field and up out of a ditch).

I have lost so much stuff. The bull bar is just too inviting for sun glasses, water bottles, tools, you name it and then drive off. Occasionally there at the end of a trip but there is a lot lost along the way too. I'm a slow learner sometimes[bigsad]

Dad left his glasses on the bonnet of our old disco, then made me walk the driveway to find them :D

Many years ago I took off in my SIII SWB and pulled up an intersection and had the cat jump off the roof, onto the spare tyre and off across the road to hide in somebody's garden.

Had to pull over and rescue the cat and bring her back home. Not sure if it was a very smooth ride, I'm sure there were claw marks in the rooftop.

same thing happened to my wife, cept the cat made it through 3 or 4 intersections and didn't jump off till she got to the kids school. People have chased me down to tell me my fuel door was open but a cat on the roof? Not worth a mention.

Somehow, a small (maybe 10cm round) stone was on my rear bumper. Didn't think much of it, drove home, and it was still there. Left it there, and finally, it fell off after 3 weeks.

It became a running joke with the kids & SWMBO.

And, as for the cat.... same thing happened to SWMBO. Drove off out of the carport, under the roller door, & down the street with the cat on the roof. I was mowing the front lawn, and as I looked up to give her a wave, saw the cat. Left the mower running, took off after her on foot. Got around the corner, and another lady was standing there, shaking her head.

She said, "Did I just see.....). I said, "yep. Cat on the roof."

We searched for 5 hours that night. I must have walked the 2kms to the shops & back a dozen or more times calling the thing...

Cat found its own way home for breakfast. 3 very happy kids, and 1 happy wife. Mind you, stupid cat still sleeps up there, but now jumps off as soon as the car starts.

Yea, the Disco's ride smooth... ;)

I left a sachet of Western Star Butter on the sidestep of my old mans Cruiser. One of those little ones you get at hotel/buffet. It was there for weeks of driving until Grandad and I stopped somewhere for lunch on a trip and he ended up eating it.

Not so much as left on the top side of the vehicle. Have lost a couple of magnetic torches that where left underneath and of course forgotten about.

Last week I was doing some work on my Disco. Finished up and went for a test drive to the supermarket. When I got out in the carpark I noticed a half metre long piece of metal pipe sitting on the side step. :D

Pipe was additional leverage on a wrench. hehe
