1994/5 Tdi Defenmder 130.
Pax door lock isn;t working. The key will turn in the lock but looking at the back of the lock (inside the door) there si no movement - the mechanism is broken in some way.
What would I need to do to address this?
Is a new barrel required? Ifr so is that a separate item from the door handle mechanism? part number?
How is the barrel removed from / refitted to the handle (if it can be).
Obviously I would need to get a locksmith to key any new barrel alike to my existing drivers door and fuel cap...

The lock part (barrel) is seperate from the door handle. It is held in by a small phillips screw on the back. You can just order a new lock and keys. But, first I would check that all the linkage is correct as that's usually what causes the problem.

There's a small spring inside the lock which can break after a while. I'd suspect that if there's no feeling when you move the key. You can get spare springs on eBay for a few dollars. From memory you have to drill out the rivets in the old lock and re-rivet. I did it on my rear door. It's fiddly but not difficult.

Vin Rouge - Yes the key turns but no resistance so maybe its the spring thing? It would be very helpful if you could provide a link as I have no idea exactly what to search for.
Ivan - presumably I could just get one new barrel and have a locksmith key it alike to my existing keys?

Try this link. They're mostly for Discovery doors so suggest you drop a note to the vendor.

Alternatively, there''s an outfit called Wapsipurt (no idea why) and they sell all sorts of odd things for Land Rovers. They might be able to help.

BTW, lock barrels are usually to be found on eBay.
Good luck
