Why ???

I'd want to be asking if a 110 steering box would work on a Series 3 chassis

yeah wouldn't that be a step backwards?

It may or may not be a step back but it is what I want to do so will it work?

If its a series relay I would of said not as it sits IN the chassis.
As others have suggested a strange idea
A Stage 1 relay could be bolted to the chassis

not without some serious modding of the chassis and moving of bits.

I you preface the question with why you would want to do it, it will be easier to answer,

If your building a hybrid or mounting a Series One body on a shortened 110 chassis then you would already have the nouse to know if you could do it or not, the answer would be yes. but as Blknight said a lot of bits need moving. The only reason I could imagine you would want to do it is to keep the headlight dip switch on a series one steering wheel functional, if it was mounted on a 110 chassis, but its a really bad idea. There are a lot easier and better ways to get steering to work on a Hybrid.

So are you going to let us in on why you want to mount a steering relay box on a 110 chassis ?

Yes I'm building a hybrid but why shorten the chassis there is only 2cm difference in wheelbase. The rolling chassis I can get doesn't have a steering box and buying 1 will cost half of what I will be paying for the chassis. The reason for the conversion is 1 my series 3 109 SW chassis is rusted
2 I have to reregister the Landy. 3 My wife will only drive it with better brakes. 4The diff ratio will give me increased cruising speed without having to install a overdrive ( I do realise I will loose power ) 5 Fuel consumption should also be beter.

Oh that explains it,

You could fit a RRC steering box & use a RRC steering column on a series 3 firewall.
I did that on my Hybrid

Or you could just cut the front crossmember complete with relay box off a series 3 chassis & fit it inplace of your 110 front crossmember - no probs.
