Part leaking on Puma

Can anyone help me?

What is this? and is it serviceable or throw away and reaplce?

It has developed a very small leak. It apears to be coolant.

Not the heater control valve is it?. You will probably find if the body is leaking it's a throw away job.

It is heater. If its any consolation mine leaks as well.

Why don't you try fitting proper hose clamps first and see if it still leaks, if so replace heater hose tap, regards frank.

Worth checking the local dealer though you never know.

Those inferior spring clips are used by manufacturers because they are easier and quicker, ergo cheaper, than hose clamps. Do yourself a favour and buy some quality stainless steel hose clamps and replace the spring clips anywhere you find them.

Just had to replace mine, (so thanks for the steer on the part) apparently its on the Puma 'list' of things that go wrong, yes, I've done clutch (x2) and Vacuum pump...

48 quid from Brit Parts and about $90 all up, sealed and delivered. OEM part, so makes you wonder why the local Main Stealer quotes $150, with a wait almost as long for the part to come over from Sydney.

30 Minutes work, pretty easy, the right hand bolt goes thru a cut and not a hole so no need to loosen it more than a few turns (You replace the unit with the black bracket fitted) It was also glued to the bulkhead with a bit of sealant, so a small amount of wiggling required.

The old one seems to be leaking from the central spindle, although it looks like it can split and maybe some silicone may win the day my feeling is you will just destroy the unit in the attempt, as mentioned above, chuck, replace...

Mine developed a leak as well.....
Fortunately the car was still under warranty. The dealers were telling me there was an update to the valve? Hopefully the newer one is a better design?

The overflow radiator bottle on mine now also looks quite ordinary. This is something to also keep an eye on. I am considering and Allisport aluminium replacement soon.......
