Just picked up my new SDV6 HSE from Albany and drove back to Perth this morning. The vehicle drove and handled superbly (had to dodge a kangaroo on my way out of Albany) but I copped a stone chip just out of Perth (1st windscreen claim already in).

Two things I wasn't expecting are:
1) A tow pack comes as standard now. I hadn't included it but got one anyway.
2) The service intervals are now A service: 10,000kms (optional), B service 20,000kms.

Otherwise all good. Love the car so far.

Interesting the change in service.....I decided to go 10k between with my D4.
My dealer told me hitch was all included...he mentioned land rover don't like other hitches being used.
Bugger about the window.....Certainly unlucky.
I initially was going to buy from Rhet at Albany, but when I read the ACL (the section on warranties) I decided best to buy from town where I live. It's clear in that the warranty agreement is between the the parties on the contract, but you would hope having land rover all over it won't be an issue. Southerns matched the price.
It's a capable vehicle once your learn the terrain response settings, dc on/off, and when to use low range (sometimes when you least expect it).
Now go get it loaded up with tricks and get it dirty.

Hi Brett,

Was this in the contract of sale with the dealer or Land Rover Australia's warranty?

Sorry to diverse the thread but I have an uneasy feeling after reading that as I have just ordered a MY13 from a dealer 420km from home as they were 6k cheaper than my local dealer (who couldn't match their price) with the car delivered to my door.

BenD4,

Its not an issue. The vehicle is warranted by Landrover Australia (or Landrover in general) and can be serviced at any dealership or private providing they specialise in Landrovers and use genuine parts. I checked this with the dealer I bought mine from when I picked it up. Other dealers in your local area may not want to help you and be ****** but they have to provide the appropriate services. I will be using an independant service agent as the two local dealers in Perth by all accounts are woeful (hearsay).

Land Rover certainly hated the Mitch Hitch they tried to stop them saying their own design was crap.

Hi BenD4

http://www.consumerlaw.gov.au/content/the_acl/downloads/consumer_guarantees_guide.pdf

This is a good read about the protection with ACL.....one part of many aspects of the ACL.
As part of my licensing requirements we attended a meeting with the gov when the ACL was released and they pointed out many points of the ACL and one that really stuck in my mind is the warranty is with the supplier....not the manufacturer (regardless of the product).....but as I said you would expect the car manufacturer to back up the supplier, but they only need to do so with parts.
I am aware of a recent example with a Toyota dealership south of the river in Perth that advised the customer to go back to the dealership that sold them the car to rectify a front end issue on a hilux. They used the ACL to explain why. I believe it did cause Toyota to step in, bit dealer stuck fast on the issue.
A service manager at Nissan (a client of my business) told me that they never receive the amount back from Nissan to cover the true cost of warranty repairs, so they don't like assisting purchasers of other dealers for warranty issues. They want to look after their own purchasers. He said that they were reasonable with purchasers from interstate or too far away from the original supplier.
This is the reason I had Southerns match the deal.....and I got them down $8500.

I don't think you need to be worried....I am just paranoid about these things sometimes.
