Pretty cheap! Cheaper than an ls2 and transmission... If I had the coin I would do it!

I suspect it's best to be put back in a RRS or whatever it came from. Unless you had several months of free time, a degree in software systems integration, ability to reconstruct/reverse engineer source code etc and a well equipped workshop... lord only knows what bits are missing...or maybe available as "extra"...I suspect it would be a nightmare to integrate into a
p38...but dreamin' doesn't hurt:angel:

I wonder how easy the transfer cases would be to adapt. The front output is on the PS also, perfect for a P38!

The mob in the uk who adapted the 2.7 and 3.0 litre disco engines to the P38 would likely have you covered in terms of software integration, just the conversion itself would be the headache!

I love those conversions, and when the day comes would love to fit a 3.0TDV6 to my D2. The problem with that engine, and the problem is shared with the P38, is the 4HP22 and 4HP24 are not strong enough to handle the 600Nm or so of torque. The great thing about the P38 is that the front diff is on the PS and so suits the output of the D4/RRS transfer case but the rear output is centered. The D2 would need the LT230 adapted to suit the transmission.

I think you think far to much about automotive technology:p

This dude here Labtronx Home (http://www.labtronx.com.au/) is the man, done heaps with p38 conversions, he had pin outs and all the details to sort an ls conversion for me, all relatively easy after intense discussion, lovely guy to talk too

Shame I won't be undertaking the conversion as I'm steering a different way

What this man don't know about the p38 becm is not worth knowing

Now if I had people prepared to spend the money, we can build one

Bugger.
Was so looking forward to watching you do that conversion.

Would that motor and box fit into an L322?
