Rear Windscreen Wiper - keeping it flat

I have replaced my rear windscreen wiper twice with OEM windscreen Wipers, and notice that for the first few months they will wipe correctly and be 100% flat against the screen and wipe the whole surface, and then after a while the top 1/3rd of the wiper starts to lift and does not make contact with the surface.

Is this an indicator of time to get a new one, or have I installed it wrong?
Does this happen to anyone else?

I find it annoying as the part that it does not wipe properly creates a blind spot for me.

Good question and one I forget to ask - mine's done this since I bought it and a new wiper blade made no difference. I can't see why it wouldn't sweep it all if it gets the bottom corner easily enough, I've tried lubing all the springs and pivots to no avail.

I had this and replaced the arm and had no more problems. It seems that when washing the car, the tendency is to pull the arm away from the windscreen but it hits the spare wheel after very little travel. Pull it too far to get the sponge in and its bent and you no longer get contact at the top of the window. you could try re bending the arm if you like. When i held the new one against the old one you could see the difference.

Some cars have the problem, others don't.

Some get fixed with a new arm, others have been fixed with a new window.

Get a straight edge & place it vertically where the problem is (normally around the top of the sweep near the brake light) & you might be surprised to see a dip in the glass. Not all cars have it but some problem cars do.

Yep, mine too!! I replaced just the hard plastic wiper part that the rubber blade goes into and has fixed it. (I didnt need to replace the whole arm)
I did this about a year ago I think & it is now starting to do it again but a new blade might be the thing I need now.

I will try the new blade, and the straight edge trick and see what happens

Mine too. Replaced the blade twice and it's ok for while then begins to lift. I don't worry about it now.

Ditto here.

Replaced the wiper blade head with a new one and it is a lot better. The old plastic was quite gritty so the movable bits on the head weren't moving freely.

If the arm is also a problem has anyone tried heating the plastic gently to bend back?? I'm thinking maybe a heat shrink heat gun or hair dryer would be gentle enough.

I too had this problem, which I couldnt cure with new blades.

I put a genuine wiper arm on, and instantly got a full sweep.
