Hi All,

I thought I might just share this. I had got new rims for the county a while back, but I found that the standard wheel studs were way too short. So I had to get some new extended studs from the UK.

The new wheels

Original Studs - The nut would only do up half the thread

Replacements - 60mm Britpart studs

One wheel done 3 to go

The rear drums can be done without removing the hub but it looks like I will have to remove the hub for the front wheels.

Now I can drive without fear of the wheel departing

After experiencing a wheel coming off while driving and then fitting wheels which resulted in less wheel stud, I decided to go with longer studs.

Hey Ausdet,

Where did you get those rims? They look cool. Are they 16x8? I'm in the market for something similar.

cheers,
JC

The wheels are from eastern wheel works in lillydale, Vic. 16x8 -25 offset. Very well made (strong), but not cheap.

How much were those extended studs each? In the process of sourcing some second hand (non crash car) ones at the moment. It would help take any heat out of the price negotiation! Or perhaps push me toward buying new.
