i have a persistent problem with this vehicle.my 03 td5 has a loss of power and no throttle response into limp mode when i have to switch ignition off and back on to reset ecu? and continue driving. This has happened occasionally since buying 4 years ago but has really started to play up lately.i have 3 mechanics try to rectify including the landrover dealer i bought the car from and have run the replacement option to no effect.the last opinion was to return to the landrover dealer because they seem to be the only source of anyone with the right software to read my ecu?any ideas where i can go here?i live 150ks west of townsville and would appreciate some advice.

Could be the throttle control box, or if you know someone with a td5 defender, change ecu and see if the problem persists...that could eliminate a lot of issues.

Have you or any of the places you've taken it to so far checked to see if there's any oil at the ecu.........?

This could cause problems........

Sounds like it could be over boosting this could be caused by the waste gate being seized.

Its on the side of the turbo get some CRC and a pair of vise grips and see if it moves.
If it has been worse lately has the weather been a lot cooler? if so this may support my hypothesis

Wouldn't like to give an all inclusive list of faults as I might miss one
I know that over boost is the most common
