On Channel 7Two at 8.50pm. If you've never seen this almost silent film, you've missed some great Pommie comedians. You have to watch to see all the cameo roles.

In this classic British comedy, Eric Sykes and Arthur Lowe are two builders who find they're missing a floorboard. As they go across town and back with a new one, they cause mayhem.

For those who can't watch it, I don't know if it will be on catch-up: PLUS7 - Catch up TV - Watch full episodes - Yahoo!7 TV (http://au.tv.yahoo.com/plus7/)

Here's a sample (there is another version):

I remember watching it too as a little boy :)

I'm pretty sure Eric Sykes died on July 4th, is this a tribute to him ??

From memory there were 3 versions of the Plank. The first on the Eric Sykes show ( a sketch) the B movie version with Tommy Cooper (almost an hour long) and the one shown tonight which was made for Thames Television.

I have DVD's of the one shown tonight and the B movie version. I watch them with the kids occasionally and even though you can see the jokes coming they are still funny. It's also interesting to try and remember the names of all the actors....

I also remember two other very funny pommy films from around that era. Rhubarb Rhubarb, was about a priest who has a game of golf with help from above. The other one was centered around a posh dinner were the butler has to also play the part of the guests.

I have Rhubarb Rhubarb on an Eric Sykes compilation DVD. Probably time to dig it out and re-watch it.

It looks like you're correct, he did pass away earlier this month.
