Has anyone driven the 2.7 diesel in manual form? Sold throughout Europe apparently. Here's one on autotrader.co.uk

Land Rover Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 XS 5dr 2007 (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201223474465036/sort/default/make/land%20rover/model/discovery/postcode/w60aa/radius/1501/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/fuel-type/diesel/maximum-age/up_to_5_years_old/transmission/manual/engine-size-cars/2-6l_to_2-9l/advert-type/featured-listing/dealer/2210/usedcars)

Yes.
Very light clutch for a vehicle of this size.
Gearbox synchro's feel very good.
But not popular here at all.
We sold 2 !

Cheers

I think that if the manual came as standard and the auto was the no cost option more would have been sold.

When I was buying mine I looked at the manual but it was only available as a base line model. You could option 7 seats and air suspension but you still missed out on some goodies and it ended being more than an SE.
I reckon the turbo lag would be a killer though, the auto does a good job of masking it but in the traffic light derby the kick once the rev counter hits about 2500rpm in first gear is significant.

My D3 is a 2005 TDV6 manual and I love it.

I expect it to serve me for a very long time.

Interesting, none were sold in NZ. We only got the auto. But Aussie also got V6 petrols and other stuff they never bothered with here also.

Presuming it's a 6 speed, what is the gearbox from?

I drove one once and it left me underwhelmed. I thought the shift quality was very rubbery and imprecise. Also, as noted they didn't come with air suspension and terrain response which are the two things that really "make" the D3.

If you want to use it for BIG towing jobs, don't go there. Google the clutch issues in UK etc and you will see the carnage and list of unhappy owners. I have fitted a clutch to one recently, uses it for horse duties and yes, the clutch is waayyyy too light duty for anything remotely approaching the towing capacity.

The Auto is a far superior option, in my opinion.
