Sharp Treads on Rooftop Tent Solved!

Have the new rooftop tent, and the main problem is the steps are sharp when climbing in and out. I went to Clark Rubber, and purchased a square of 10mm thick closed cell foam. I then cut it to size, and glued it to the treads, and used cable ties to secure it even more, and keep them from rotating. Took about an hour, and cost about $6. Don't know about the longevity, but at that price, can do it again in the future. The foam makes it really comfortable to climb up and down, so am happy.
If my wife is happy, the camping experience is even better:D

Thats a issue thats bugged me for years with the Hannibal Tents, I used a foam material with a adhesive backing, cut to length and put on each step works a treat...

Glad someone else found it a issue..

I'd like to think that over the years before making my purchase, I looked at practically every rooftop tent available. Out of everything I saw, I reckon the Hannibal steps are about the best.

Some others I agree would be needing padding, but not the Hannibal.

Hannibal do have the best steps , but nothing like a little more comfort for the wife.

to secure it even further ( and to allow your ladder to be turned into a multifunciton hanging device)

drill and fit some m4 nutserts into the underside of the steps (I like to do 3 per rung)
Wrap your foam as per the way youve done it.
poke holes in line with the nutserts
with a nut, large body washer on an m4 eye bolt wind the eyebolt into the nutsert through the foam.
once the eyebolt is in a nice location wind the nut down on the washer to hold it all in place.

a short pole (your long handled shovel is usually ideal) can be used to hold the ladder up if you need to.
