Isn't the EGT probe suppose to be on exhaust manifold side of the turbo, to get accurate readings ?
At least that is my understanding.

Well I've got one on my other Landy it's a TD5 I've had it on both sides and apart from getting hotter quicker before the turbo after a min or so they both read the same

Umm, if they read the same pre and post turbo then your turbo isn't working. You get a 200+/-50oC temperature drop across a turbo.
