Well folks, by working into the nights prior to the RACQ Motorfest this year, we managed to get ol' Mr Mockagie back together and ready for display at this high profile event.
The front mudguards have been restored.
They were resprayed in Deep Brunswick Green - acrylic lacquer - and have had the underside coated in sound deaden-er/stone chip.
Brand new lights have been fitted to the front and the guards are held in place with shiny new zinc-coated bolts. All securing brackets have been repainted also.
Mr Mockagie performed faultlessly on the trip to Motorfest and back, even storming over the gateway bridge.
The weather, although appearing a little ominous at first, soon cleared, and it was a lovely fine day. The turnout of classic cars was exceptional, as usual. The event has top billing on the Qld motoring calendar, showcasing desirables like Austin Healeys, Triumph TR 3 & 4, Morgans, MG, Aston Martin, Chevrolet etc.
The event is very professionaly organised and well attended. It's not only the meticulously restored examples that draw admirers, but the rare 'barn finds' equally so.
Only attend the All British Day ? Mark RACQ Motorfest in your calendar for next year and discover what you've been missing!
