I love my defender but I have spent more on this car than the purchase price in the last 3 months. Anyway after getting the clutch master and slave cylinders replaced last week now the clutch is slipping like crazy and getting worse. I assume that the clutch now needs to be replaced. Could it be something else? If not how much will I be up for to get the clutch replaced( supply and fitting)?
Thanks Moony

Hi Mooney. Have you checked for free play on clutch pedal? Is pedal releasing? Jim

What do I have to do to check this? It seems ok at low rpm but if I put my foot down it starts to slip.

play in push rods means its releasing. if they are tight then it is not.
i have seen this set wrong on a series brakes and they would build up and drag the brakes

Have a look through a manual on how to adjust the master cylinder. I replaced my clutch because it was slipping, it was all fine. I put a heavy duty one in while it was out and when it went back together i had the slipping back again.
Just had to lower the pedal and move the biting point and it was great. Until the slave cylinder let go but that's another story.
