Has anyone fitted one of the7'' DVD ,800*480,GPS,BT,PHONEBOOK,TV,Radio FOR LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 3. If you have can you advise me on its performance as well as how difficult it was to install.

I am particularly interested in the performance of the GPS as well as the CD output. It’s a good looking unit and fits perfectly into the dash

But looks are not everything.

Not yet... But it is sitting here waiting to fit to my Old mans D3

Solid, decent bit of kit...

A D4 owner fitted the D4 version recently (try a search)... Seems happy with his choice

Do you have a web site link for the DVD. I am not familiar with it.

I am also very keen to install one of these, where does the dvd head unit go ?
The other option is a 2 din generic dvd/sat nav.
The loss of the clock setting function is a concern. Has anyone come up with a solution to this without relocating the original head unit and leaving connected.

There are more issues than that if you have steering wheel controls as these also control some settings in the trip computer - like the clock all go through the radio.

I have the SE with no steering wheel controls.
The idea of a sat/nav which fits into the unattractive void between the vents is appealing to me.

You will only have issues if you have the hi-line HU. Low line is esy to replace and upgrade.

Well the Old Boy came up for a visit so we got stuck into this install today...

YIKES!!!!! After stuffing around, struggling to work out how it could bloody fit - a few phone calls, emails etc and we have arrived at the reason for our initial frustration!

This unit is designed expecting the IHU (9 button) stereo head unit. :o

Reason: The base level unit (In Aus) has a built in amplifier circuit, making the unit about 20mm longer than the 9 button HU with its external amplifier under the Drivers seat.

The screen needs to lean back behind the head unit and wont fit with the normal 6 button stereo...

But there has been a solution (we were committed once we cut out the cubby hole :o ) - We cranked up the Dremel and removed the last 30mm of stereo on an angle to allow the unit to fit!!!!!

We're now back on track - Fitting the wiring etc into place...

Dont get this unit expecting bolt in and go - Unless you have a 9 button stereo (and no upgrade is NOT easy and quick if you dont) - You will be cutting up bits and pieces to make it fit and work...

Whats worse for us is we have damaged the Dash Pad and will now require a replacement (about $1000.00  )

Having said all this - I could now install it in my sleep
