My 2007 L322 came with a SatNav disc - v10 WhereIs DVD.
From what I can work out the current version is something like v16 and cannot be purchased as it is listed as out of stock.

The SatNav system appears to be playing up.

Can someone supply me with a backup version of their disc so that I can test my SatNav system out before either replacing the DVD or other components of the SAtNav system?

PS - even the WhereIs current version v16 is listed as only using 4 year old mapping - how crummy is that?

Last time I ordered a map from Whereis it was listing out of stock online but they accepted the order over the phone and sent out the then current but outdated disc.

When the updated one launched about 6mths later they sent it out for free and I stuck the other one on eBay.

A copy alas won't do you any good, I tried copying our DVD (v13) previously and it refuses to read, must have some level of copy protection.

Thanks - as it is a DVD there is no protection that can not be circumvented. All I need is to get hold of someone's old version DVD.

Toyota/Lexus DVD will work. You can find the latest Toyota DVD on certain sites. ;) The Ford DVD may also work but I haven't tried it. All three use the Denso navigation system.

Hey Pat,

Have you loaded the Toyota/Lexus DVD into the RR? If so, was it a straight one-for-one exchange or did you need to circumvent some protection?

A follow-on (and perhaps a naff question), would using a Toyota branded DVD bring up their logo on the display when the system initialises during start-up?

Cheers mate,

I have a DVD with the WhereIs v18 maps but unfortunately it will not work on LandRover.

Apparently LandRover uses a DVD hardware interface that will not allow any Ford/Tpyota/Lexus etc DVDs to work in them - back to the drawing board.

We need is a friendly LandRover DVD owner to help us out here.

Why aren't you testing the components of your system with the V10 disc, that it came with?

I have since found out that the issues that I thought the SatNav system had all stem from totally out of date mapping. Once one leaves any CBD area the v10 disc just does not have any mapping there at all.
Otherwise the system is running as it should.

Then it appears you have answered your own original question/ statement about replacing the DVD or other components?
I have read that some owners of earlier L322 ( with CD based system) are still using the original disc that came with the car, albeit out of date with new roads, etc.

In my old Classic, I have a very old satnav cheapie (yep, Chinese unbranded-2005) running a 2006 program; it runs perfectly urban and country; just "moves" a bit because of new roads.

......

Actually not at all.
All I need is some friend that will lend me there latest DVD disc so that i can copy it.
The SatNav system in a RangeRover is completely different in its operation from a clip onto windscreen TomTom or similar. It runs off a DVD player and then interacts with the vehicle hardware/software. To make matters worse LandRover/WhereIs do something 'special' that makes other Denso based systems not work in a LandRover.

A copy of the Toyota disk definitly works in the RR. I'm using one,(latest v18) and no it dosn't bring up a Toyota logo, still brings up the LR logo.

From memory, you must burn a DVD-R disc, not +R.

My vehicle is a 2007 Supercharged with the Nav DVD drive in the boot.

Pat

Thanks heaps Pat
You definitely are a 'friendly RR owner'!
That's exactly the advice I was after.
I'm tired of driving through suburbs that the SatNav v10 tells me is bush.
I have a 2007 DV8 with the std DVD SatNav in the boot so it should be the same system as yours.
I have a v18 DVD that I paid $15 for.
Can't tell whether it is a -R or +R - anyway will burn it onto a -R and see how it goes and let the forum know.

I've been rather busy at work - but I've been advised to use all the files from the LandRover DVD and just the v18 map files to make up a DVD.
I intend to try that when I get a chance.

Any luck trialling this solution? I have a Disco 3 with a UK nav disc so am also looking at ways to get around this. If making a frankenstein disc using Lexus/Toyota nav disc map files and the original files works I would certainly like to give this a shot also. If this worked please post the steps used.

No need for a Frankenstein disc. The stock Toyota disc works just fine.

I've used a V17, V18 and am now using a V19 disc with no problems at all.

I did not copy a Toyota disc though, I burned a copy from an image downloaded from the 'net. Maybe there's something happening in the disc ripping process.

Pat.

I don't think the forum admins would appreciate that. A quick google search lists multiple download sites.

Cheers
Pat.
