Drivers side under steering column panels

Hi Forumites,
I'm going to be attempting to remove the covers under the steering column to install the LLAMS unit plus some other stuff. I've removed the outer cover with the vents in it and I'm now faced with another cover that has a hole in the centre and a couple of torx screws, is there anything lurking here that I should be aware of or is everything held in place by the couple of torx screws and I suspect a load of push in clips?
These area is different than a D3, I'm just wondering how different before I pull something and possibly break something I didn't want to. :confused::confused:

Just pull out and down hard on the top edge, the clips may pop off and they are tight the first few times they are taken off. At the bottom it just has hooks which go into slots.

Thanks for the info but the RRS is a bit different than the D3, well it looks different anyway. I can see four torx screws, is that is or is there more? You can see a couple of them in the pictures (I hope).

Hi Marty,

I have a D4 but l've done a bit of wiring under the steering column. For what you are proposing (LLAMS) there should be no need to remove that panel. Just remove the panel above the pedals (with the footwell light in it, visible in your 3rd photo) and it should give the access you need.

As Trif says. The side panel will probably need to be removed first because of a retaining lip on the end of the above-pedal panel, although I'm told of at least 1 person who didn't remove the side panel.

The section you refer to does not come out unless you wish to remove the entire dash, it is part of the skeleton that bolts to bracketry that then holds everything together.

On all the units I have fitted I just remove the panel over the top of the pedals, 2 Phillips heads screws that are in turnbuckles, they twist 180degrees & don't come out. If you follow the panel it goes to the centre console & has a spring clip that goes into a slot, put your hand behind this, push clip out while also pulling on the panel.
Undo the light connection & wiggle out.

You can see what you are doing through the hole where the fuse is in picture no.3, just stick a light on the floor.

I'm fitting an electronic brake controller for my camper trailer as well. The intention was to only take the car apart once, fat chance of that happening I know, but I have the best intentions. I'm going to place the controller on the left-hand side of the column above my left knee.
Thanks Graeme, good point about removing the side panel first, I spoke to the ever helpful Richark K this morning I'm now searching Ebay and Gumtree for six inch finger extensions.............

Trying to extend the driver's side (left hand drive) sunroof drainpipe to feed it through to the drain hole at the top of the wheel well
Having a difficult time getting in behind all of the wiring without removing the panel directly below the steering wheel
Don't want to remove the entire dash though
Working on a 2016 LR4
Any suggestions would be appreciated

They dont come off, thats the main frame of the dash on that side...

Sunroof drain exits into the side vent area behind the plastic acoustic bag if its still there.
