Well Chaps and Chapettes, I have hit the magic 10,000 km on my MY12 D90 and it's almost time for its first service. The Dealer and the book says that the first service is due at 12,000 but that seems a long time, and I will get it done soon, before the 12k anyway.

The big question is what dealer to I take it too - I live in Inner city Sydney and there is the choice of Trivett at Parramatta where I got it from, the dealer at Artamon on the Nth Shore, who fixed a warranty problem and were good, or the nearest one at Alexandria. Can any fellow AULRO forum members recommend which is the best one?

cheers
Andrew

Can't help with where to go, but i took mine to the dealer in Brisbane for the 10,000 km service and it cost $435.

I thought that was a bit step for what they did - although a big portion of the bill was the fancy oil they used.

Maybe worth checking if an independent can do better.

Can't comment on cost of Defender service. But I have had my D3 serviced at both Trivett Parramatta and Alexandria. It all depended on where I was working at the time. No issues so far at either place. I have also had work done at Alto, who are very good.
So I guess it may come down to convenience.
Cheers

$435.. you did good.. my dealer quoted me about double that for my first service.. needless to say I take mine to an independent land rover mechanic now.. (who uses the same oil as the dealer).. :)

For what it's worth, my Range Rovers are serviced at Trivetts in Parramatta too. I personally wouldn't go anywhere else.

I agree with getting the first service done at 10,000kms, and my dealer also wrote it on the window sticker as 12,000kms, but my service book says 12,000 miles or 20,000 kms. Are you sure your service book and manual say 12,000 kms?

You are not restricted to going to a dealer to have the service done, although for later warranty issues it may be of benefit. There is an argument that a good quality specialist repairer may actually inform you about potential issues with your car that a dealer with warranty responsibilities may choose not to inform you about. That is also not saying anything negative about the Dealers closest to you (Trivett Alexandria and Purnell Blakehurst).

I have used Graeme Cooper Automotive at St Peters for regular servicing of all my non-Series Land Rovers.

i bought my 90 in Port Melbourne but I have had the recall done and the 10000 service done at Trivett Alexandria. They have been great. If you give them enough notice they will give you a loaner. I can't comment on cost because I got three years free servicing with the corporate deal.
