Why is it that the d3's I look at (v6 and v8 petrol) in melb are about 25-30k but in syd and bris they are about 18-22k are we getting ripped In Vic or what? I might have to go interstate to get my new ride

Yep your getting ripped in Melbourne, the place is always wet, grey and cold or to hot and a bush fire hazard. The harbour is a mud hole, the city is flat and featureless' the locals all follow a nancy boy football game and Disco 3's cost to much compared to Sydney.
Apart from that Melbourne s a great place. ...;)

D anythings too pricey in vic, thats why I was lured in to going interstate, just remember the NSW pink slip means nothing here, I think some take the roadworthy issue far less seriously than us and you could be unpleasantly surprised with cost

LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 3 new & used cars for sale | Carsguide (http://www.carsguide.com.au/buy-a-car's=true&makes=516&models=4294966969#fuels=363&makes=516&models=4294966969&searchOffset=20)
13k to over 60k very big price range. A few prices asked for must be close the the price they cost when new. The asking price and price to pay is not the same thing.

You obviously don't follow NSW law as all above mentioned cars are illegal to re register.

So from your reply which only trys to defend your nancy boy shirt lifter football code I take it you must agree with my other comments regarding what a hole Melbourne is compared to Sydney ...;)
Cheers,
Terry :)
By the way right now I'm looking at a Disco that is for sale in Melbourne so it just depends what your looking for. ...good luck with your search.

It's shows how Ill informed you are syd has mor annual, rain and lower thumps than we do and our footy players can do more than just run in a straight line

My dear boy I'm originally from across the pond so the only code of football I have any interest in is Rugby where brawn and brains are required If you want to be the champions, unlike League where no one has any brains or AFL where there is no brains or skill just a lot of grown men in very tight shorts running around in ever decreasing circles who find it hard to kick a ball through even four goal posts, which is two more goal posts than any other code in case Victorians hadn't realised.
By the way I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad that Sydney has 'lower thumps' than Melbourne.
Cheers,
Terry ;)

After a lot of research I bought mine from a guy in Sydney, of course you have to factor in extras such as - airfare to Sydney - taxi to the owners house (in my case $140) - getting a RWC for the vehicle when you get back to Victoria (NSW paperwork isn't recognised here) - cost of new plates, it all adds up... I got a great vehicle with a very good pedigree so I'm more than happy to have bought it from NSW, and it was a lovely drive home in my new toy :D

Try living in a mining town in far north WA. Everything seems to be double. On the other side of that though my sister just sold a 99 Nissan pulsar with 330 thousand on it for near 4 grand ;)

Oldsalt I'm sure it still wouldn't come close to the 5-7k difference in price

If you buy a vehicle interstate and you live in WA and want to drive it home you must contact DPI and get a permit BEFORE you cross the border or you can fined for driving an unregistered vehicle and it may affect any insurance claim. I only found this out when I went to register mine. You also have to get a permit to take it to the registry from you home address. They usually last 48 hours and cost around $60 from memory.
Then you have your stamp duty, transfer fee and plates etc. and for a $46K vehicle it set me back $3700.00. Lucky there was someone behind me when I almost passed out.

Dunno about the D3's, but we bought our 2010 D4 from ACT a couple of months back, though that was more to do with availability than price. The dealer registered it in our name in the ACT and depending on who you talk to at Vicroads we may or may not need a RWC and to pay Stamp Duty when moving it to Vic rego.
I intend booking it in in the next week or so, so I guess I'll know the real story shortly.

Please keep us informed as I nearly bought one from that dealer back in February.
One reason I did not was that it may have affected corporate deal & free servicing.
Apparently they have to register it a demo for interstate buyers & then transfer to new owner.
Landrover Australia will not provide corporate servicing if the car was registered as a demo as it was explained to me.
Ended up buying new from MLR last week - compromised on the ediff due to it being a stock car, hopefully will fit winch later on.
Cheers
