Surely the winner will be an Isuzu County! Although I secretly hope it's a 300TDI. ;)

420k on a 97 110 tray top that has been very very abused....only repairs are a new clutch, and injector pump, every thing else original and going strong, not a straight panel on the truck though...!

353,000 plus a few kms for a 1999 110 TD5. I could be in the running for highest average kms per year. I replaced the original clutch 5,000 km ago. Engine and drive train is sweet.

96000km on 2005 Td5 Defender. Rear diff is cactus, but JC found me a sals :D I know its not high milage, but it will be, going to keep it forever and then some! And with the sals I think its the ultimate Td5, well it is for me. Cheers. Bob.

The guy who owns British off road has a 94 model 130 with around 970,000 km on a 200Tdi, although the 4WD action mag its featured in can't decide whether its a 200 or 300Tdi, but I think the 94 models were still 200's weren't they? :)

In any event, the 4WDAction guys said it was both a 200 and a 300 in the one article; so much for journalistic proof reading :)

My 98 130 just turned over 500,000.
It broke a crank at aprox 250,000 for unknown reason , mech said apart from crank and associated damage motor was still in excellent cond .
Love my 130 , and will keep doing the k's till the chassis gives up .

490k in my 88 county isuzu turbo... I'd call that a low mileage example too!

only had the injector pump rebuilt in terms of big ticket mechanical probs thanks to some low grade bio through it by a previous owner...

I don't like this thread, too many 200tdis pulling huge numbers. Mine is 193k and still runs well, a bit of black smoke sometimes but not often.
Would like to swap to a 4bd1 but I cantt justify it when I haven't needed more than a 200tdi. It even towed 2 ton reasonably well.

Hey go easy Pat! The Isuzu is only better due to its torque figures when turboed, and yes they last longer BUT the Tdi will do those sorts of km too if looked after, it's just the old '250cc bike vs 650cc bike ' thing, once you ride/drive one you'd find it difficult to go back...:)

It's not that JC,every time a thread comes up about engines the Tdi is bagged out because they crack heads and wear out bottom ends and the p gasket leaks etc etc,in other words they are an unreliable POS when in fact they can do big miles and give good service. Pat

330000 KM's 2002 Td5 and runs like new. Give them good oil I recon and they give you back miles.

It's all relative. It's not that they are unreliable, they just look that way when compared to the isuzu.

hello to everyone, must be sick am buying a newish 110.
I did have a 110 with a 92 300 tdi that only showed 140 on the dash when I bought it but by the way the kingpins were worn I wouldnt have been suprised if it had clocked the odometer.
Also used to blow black smoke on start up if I parked it nose uphill - seemed like worn valve stem seals - but only a problem if parked overnight with nose uphill. No smoke once it warmed up. thought it was blow by into the intercooler but it was pretty clean on inspection.
Also the wiring loom to the rear light clusters had worn through to the copper - ended up ripping it all out and rewiring it.

Loved it, but circumstances meant that it had to go at the time.

Hey Sam, I bought my old girl from a young fella in/near Maitland with 337,000 kms on the odo. He said he bought it from his boss who had it from new. Rego AHP ... . Could it be the same truck? Would love to hear the stories of her past. Your dad might be interested in her transformation (or horrified) over the past 12 months.

cheers MLD

wasnt there an article not all that long ago with a defender that had over a million it was in a 4x4 ag and was on the front cover. our 300tdi had about 225k when i totaled it, dad was going to buy it back for the engine mostly as it was just getting good. i personally loved the 300tdi

and yes with any car you give it good oil,do the changes when needed or even abit earlier and it will pay off in the long run. my dad has a 99 vectra as a drive to work car just over 240k on an auto box still good ran abit rough after sitting for a few months over winter though, and the lining is giving me static on the head but still you cant complain to much

My 1992 110 200 tdi had done 169,000 when I sold it. It is now sitting in a shed not far from here. The person who bought it off me had done 645,000 in it before the odometer stuffed up. He has a hot house business and was delivering hot houses across 3 states in a large tandem. It had a few clutches. gear box and general repairs though. It now just sits in his shed. It was one of the first that came out.

Interesting reading - might show SWMBO this thread. She is looking for a Puma for slightly better comfort. I wouldn't mind a project car.

I've seen a '99 Defender with 300,000km for $14,000

Had new head, injectors, pump, turbo and clutch replaced 20.000kms ago

Going by this thread, it might only be considered middle aged ;)
