Tragic allright for the 2 who did not survive, only 23 years of age. I am still wondering why the one who was rescued had no clothes on.

I wondered that too. Maybe the clothes impeded him treading water (news said he was treading water for 10 hours or something). Would have been a lot better with some life jackets on.

He was lucky with that shark so close, to get out of that.

Sad story that unfortunately seems to occur to often,

Years ago my Father in Law ( who was a commercial fisherman at the time ) was steaming across the Gulf of Carpenteria, and walked outside to take a leak, and there was a bloke went bobbing past in the water . When they picked him up he was stark naked as well.
Him and his mates were doing a grog run up near cape york when their tinnie capsized and they had been in the water for a couple of days.. All 3 got found in the general area... The father in law being a true professional he was, just wanted to know where they capsized so he could go looking for the 40 odd cartons of beer they had in the tinnie.. ( think it was actually more than 40 but you get my drift )

Some pearl diving friends of mine reckon hammerhead sharks are the worst, as they usually just come straight in for a bite. Have read a few stories of people who were found as a group and when they started to rescue them the sharks attacked as the group got smaller in size..

The ocean is definately 1 place where you CANT have the " It will never happen to me " attitude..

Cheers Ean

Pretty sure they said he was in the water for 19 hours. Its VERY hard to swim fully clothed, try it sometime,I had to do it for a swimming medal when I was a young fella.
