Will quickly say for now that this was an eventful trip. The problems started from the highway when the vibrations from the driveline were shocking...

Then to find my front output seal install had failed miserably and had gear oil pouring out onto my exhaust.

Temp gauge (factory) on dash stopped working before I even got the the highway. Luckily I had the after market one installed.

Got a flat on the dirt road heading in.

Got a flat on the dirt road heading out.

New fuel regulator also seems faulty.

Grants starter motor is bonkers.

My battery terminals are bonkers.

Grants rear locker is bonkers.

On the other hand, all the cars performed very well, and credit goes to the drivers who ate up whatever was put in front of them!

LCMP is a fantastic park and I look forward to the next trip out there.
While most of the park is very well signed we did have a couple of lost moments but, regardless of that, it was a nice park with great scenery and lots of wildlife to be seen.

Also, here is the puddle that claimed my mums cruiser a number of years ago!

I wont elaborate on the complete bogans that were seen driving round and round in an opposing puddle :D

A very interesting trip indeed, with laughs, stress and great tracks!

The stone road on the way in is fairly rough and scattered with small tyre eating rocks. Grimaces 200 year old BFG A/Ts were just too hard and cracked to deal with the stress, and after warning me that his car is a little tail happy on the "slippery road", pulling up to the closed office at 10:30pm he soon discovered the lack of air in his passenger side rear tyre! We stuffed it full of air again and it some-how made it to camp (Jason had setup earlier on friday at TRAKKA TERRACE).

Elliot guarding the awesome A/Ts after they were set aside for the mighty 37's .....

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1004.jpg

Jason got out of bed to greet us, and provide some much needed light from his newly installed LED light around the rear door window (might steal that ideal Jason!!).

Grimace gave us a glimpse of his "OneZ" (he insisted it be spelt like this), which had us all laughing for hours! .... more on that at Saturday nights camp fire!

The camp Saturday:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1005.jpg

After a leisurely Saturday morning, we finally got under way back to the office to pay our fee's.
I was using a new phone GPS app to tracj our movements, which worked quite well, but the park is fairly well sign posted, so didn't really need to use it.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1006.jpg

We headed from the office on DIAPER ROAD and on to TROOPIE TRAIL, down IRON POT ROAD, and on to take a look at the HILUX HILLS. The owner had warned us that no one had driven them in 18 months, and that he can't guarantee recovery if we get stuck. We obviously had to go and have a look!!

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1007.jpg

Just around the corner, there was a steep climb:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1008.jpg

This was just to get close to HILUX HILL!
Sorry, no pictures of this, but lets just say we know why it hasn't been driven in 18 months! There are some fairly big step ups towards the top, and it's well washed out.
We took a side track and headed on to HILUX HIGWAY with an aim to having lunch at FRYING PAN FALLS. Access to this was closed, so we decided to push on back to camp the long way around! FRYING PAN ROAD, KINGS ROAD, LANDCRUISER LANE, IRON POT ROAD, TARAGO TRAIL and back to camp.

For the afternoon we decided to take a look at CLUB RALLY CIRCUIT, and down to the PIG PEN. Some pics of the down hill sections:

I'm not proud of what we got up to over the next 30 minutes down at the Pig Pen.....
Mel is a bad influence!! "Hey guys, how funny would it be if you all drove round and round in circles through those mud holes!?"

It made a bit of a mess!

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1013.jpg

Luckily I didn't turn off the old girl until we got back to camp. Start motor did the usual "I got drowned" act, but by this time I didn't care and left it until morning!

That night Grimace provided some much anticipated laughs!!

The "OneZ":

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1014.jpg

comes complete with 2x Beer pockets and a separate "gentlemens zip":

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1015.jpg

They are available for pre-order from Grimace's mum, but you'll get the Mk2 version after some much needed modifications are applied from the weekends trial!

Random pic of Grimace being Grimace, which also shows the no-frills attitude to Fluffy's interior!

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1016.jpg

Saturday night was pretty cold! ...proof is the ice on Grimaces GCLRO shirt!!

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1017.jpg

...actually, on second thoughts that might not be ice!?

No comment:

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1018.jpg

Moving on.....
The repair to my D1 started, and I'm not going into too much detail, but seemingly the removal of the main feed + activation wire and re-fitting fixed it!?

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1019.jpg

Don't you hate mystery problems!!

So off we headed towards CLAW GORGE! This is a great track, and one of my favourites from the weekend! (bar the last one we drove - coming up!)

Some pics from this track:

Team white safely out the other end!

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1023.jpg

At this stage we headed back to camp as Jason needed an early-ish dart!

After lunch my car failed to start again. A knock with a hammer on the solenoid and it started - at least we found the trick right!!??

We headed over to CRUISER CANYON in search for something a little more challenging and found a great creek run! ....this was my favourite track! :)

I quickly found my rear locker was leaking and not engaging!

Grimace's expert guidance got me through though! ;)

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1024.jpg

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/08/1027.jpg

Back to camp and final pack up, where I dicovered the starter had failed AGAIN! ...this time the magic hammer didn't work as you could hear the Solenoid clicking in! :o ....this time I really though we were screwed! ....but yet again trying it a few times and it finally started! ...this time I wasn't going to turn it off until I needed more fuel!!!

Grimace had more drama's on the way out when a huge rock decided to jump inside his tyre! This had to be seen to be believed! ....we had to double back in the still running D1 and get an old tyre put on his rim and there are no plugs the size of that hole!!

Around half way to Kilcoy, Grimace informed me of an issue with his electrics, which were flashing and flickering like a christmas tree! .....a loose earth terminal on the battery was knocked back on with a hammer (you don't need spanners for Fluffy) and we were on our way again, albeit both running fairly low on fuel! We made it to Kilcoy and I turned off the engine! ...luckily it started no problems, and has done ever since! ...might still strip it and give it a good clean!

A great weekend, with great company! ....GCLRO must do LCMP again soon!! (maybe when it's a little warmer!!??)

Great reports guys and thanks for the photos. The Brown's remained camped within the house all weekend and had to give in last night and have a doctor house call, $100 of tablets later and we might get better now. Dont ask why we didn't get any earlier, lets just say changing doctors or having big talk to their nurse:mad:

what an awesome weekend
our weekend didn't have the best start , my back went on Thursday afternoon and my son came down with allergies on Thursday morning, so as we headed off on Friday morning I took some of my own advise that I had posted earlier and called into bunnings and bought a big bag of harden the f**k up, worked a treat too.we had a smooth run up to Kilcoy where as we started to leave the town my disco decided it no longer wanted to proceed. After several attempts it finally started and then died again .She finally started again so I asked a local if there were any more servo's on the way to LCMP but was told I had gone past the last one already.i believe the old girl was giving me the sign not proceed with out refueling, what a good girl. Rest of the trip there was trouble free, we arrived about 1.00 and were set up by 2.30.the afternoon was spent collecting fire wood [ with the new chain saw, and yes Grant I kept all 10 fingers and toes.],and just relaxing .Grant and Grimace woke me at around 10.30 with the talk of a flat tyre coming over the cb's. I dont know how they do the late set ups but they do.Ihad a drink with them and got back to bed at about 12.00.Saturday was filled with great tracks and lots of driving .Les got the fire going late Saturday afternoon while the rest of us headed out for a late last minute drive after Grimace got fluffy soughted out.Saturday night camp fire was great with lots of laughs and lots of drinks. My son Kyran introduced the the guys to my chony, if you have heard of it look it up on utube.Sunday was a quick drive before packing up and heading home .
I cannot stress enough how much I truely enjoyed this weekend, a fantastic park and even better company.I cannot thank Grant and Grimace enough ,cheers guys.
p.s Ihave heaps of photos and as soon as I can get 1 of them to show me how to put them up I will.

Hey Stikman!
If you are talking about new hilux hill, then he must have been one of the last people to drive it which is pretty cool :)

At the moment it so old the rocks are pitted from the weather.

There is a large tree fallen right at the top to the right hand side that would interrupt with my preferred line. It seems to have been washed out by the rains and fallen along side the edge of the track.

If I had the chance to get out there again with the likes of Greg, Eric, Justin and Pete, with some quality winches around, I would be more confident in giving it a hit.

But as it was just myself, Grant and Jason, we had no idea what the rest of the terrain was going to be like, and it was the first track we tackled I decided it was in my best interest to give it a miss.
Besides I hate hill climbs at the best of times

There are about 4 different climbs, left one being the hardest and they get easier as you work your way to the right. Last trip I did the 2nd from left as there was a large tree across the first climb. Mind you I had driven the first one back in the days when I had the V8 in the car.

Eric
