Hi all
Finally got round to putting in the Madman gauge I purchase 2 years ago, Time fly's.
Taking off on Friday, six weeks in the Kimberley’s towing a Jayco swan and was looking for some setting information:angel:
EGT my understanding is the temp should not go above 750C
Transmission what tem should this not exceed
Oil Pressure I've got this maxed at 7PSI
Thanks all:)

What engine? - where is your EGT thermocouple located? - What transmission?

I'm running a temp sensor on the back of my LT95 and the max I've seen was 90degC towing a Jayco Flamingo on a 35deg day. Usually sits around 70degC.
The Flamingo is the same size as a Swan, and my engine is 4bd1t so I'd expect you'd see similar temps in your setup - hopefully lower as you've got the extended sump.

I'm installing mine at the moment. Will be running it and monitoring the maximum logged values and will set something around that. Is that a mis-type on the oil pressure? Spec for low pressure switch for the warning light is 3-8.8psi and 58psi on the high pressure relief.

Hi
I'm running the electronic pressure sensor and its only reading about 4.5 PSI ? need to have a look tonight. But goes down to 2 PSI at idle
On the way into the city (Sydney) my oil tem (transmission) was about 48C. I'll set it at a max of 100C
What about the EGR temp should I set it at 750C or is this to high?

Anything over about 70c is a transmission killer...
There was a chart from Ashcroft here somewhere..

The link from Ashcrofts is broken, but this is the page it referred to:
Transmission Oil (http://www.digi-panel.com/trannyoil.htm)
Its only referring to auto's, but 70deg is almost too cold. 80-95degC in the pan is "normal" according to that page, and 135degC is maximum safe temp for short durations.

OK according to my Madman the engine oil presure is 4.5B AR so at 14 pounds per Bar that's 63pounds does that sound right?
Trans (TD5 manual) temp is about 45C in city trafic so a warning at 70 should be fine.
EGT is any thing from 163C to 550 while driving

Defender 130 300TDi
EMS-1. Up to 80 hours
Coolant in top hose with level sensor
Sits on 66 deg C. Pushing a load up hill got up to 77 (some say too cold?)
Alarm set to 100deg C
Oil pressure on T adaptor with switch
Cold idle 2.2. 2000rpm 4.5
Hot idle 1.3 2000rpm about 3.3bar
Low alarm 0.8 bar
Oil temp in side plug up high passenger side TC
Round town sits on 40 deg C
Working hard 80 deg C
Alarm set 100
EGT in plate before turbo bent so tip in flow.
100-200 idle driving goes up and down a lot, very educational.
Alarm set at 650. But will let it climb to 720 briefly

James,
How about a photo of the coolant hose setup, I've got the goodies in the garage waiting to be fitted. Would be much appreciated.
