Hi

This is my first post since arriving in Australia 12 weeks ago. We have travelled up the east coast from Sydney and are now in Katherine. See our blog at The Australian Adventure (http://www.kendalls-in-oz.blogspot.co.uk/) the blog is intended for reletives, friends and former work colleagues in the UK and so is not very Land Rover orrientated. However you may be interested in our experinces on Morton Island, and our adventure last week.

The reason for this post is that while working on the engine (300tdi) over the weekend I noticed fuel leaking from the joint in the body of the fuel injection pump while the engine is on tickover. I have not been able to determine it it is only on tickover, there all the time, or gets worse when under load. Since I first spotted the leak I have checked our fuel consumption and it is no worse than usual, between 12 and 13 l/100km. So I guess it stops leaking under load or we have always had the leak.

Can anyone recommend and "expert" in the Katherine/Darwin area who could take a look at the problem?

Thanks in advance

Steve

PS I think the link to our blog works, but if not let me know!

Great blog, well done fixing the oil leak.....getting the crank nut off must have been fun!You will be able to fix the leaking gasket on the pump easily, check out this link http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/144702-bosch-ve-pump-seals.html Follow the guide on the LR4x4 link, you may have to register to view the photos.Good idea to check wear on the spindle bush,at least renew its seal whilst you have it apart.I am pretty sure the gasket is Bosch part 1 461 015 302 the spindle bush is 1 460 324 333 then you need the O ring to suit.

Thanks for the link, I will check it out tommorrow. The crankshaft bolt took a bit of shifting. In the end I dismantled the Hi Lift jack and used the handle on a wheelbrace to shift it.
