What low coolant alarm for V8?

I'm looking for a low coolant alarm for the disco. I've seen a few for the TD5 but not for the V8.

What have other V8 owners fitted?

Can the temp one be rigged to communicate with the existing temp guage or is another required to be installed?

It comes with its own unit. Much more accurate. Refreshes/updates every few seconds.

Common place to fit on the disco is below the drivers side coin/ash tray.

I would also recommend the TM2 Combo - I have one fitted to my 101 and it works great.

Two points though - carefullly consider where the low water sensor goes - mine is in the top radiator hose at the top but goes off with even a small drop in water level. I need to turn mine around so it will be less sensitive.

Second make sure the temp probe is not bolted to the thermostat housing as water temp will cause incorrect readings. Make sure the sensor is bolted to the head/block - mine is a inlet manifold bolt - also out of the mainstream airflow from the fan as the cooler air can distort temp - somewhere deep in the engine valley is best.

Virtually no skill required.:cool:

Coolant sensor is a screw in unit. Just depends on vehicle and engine.
Some are a replacement radiator cap/plug. Others screw into the bleed point on one of the hoses. Just screw out the old plug/screw and screw in the new sensor in its place.

Temp sensor is an eyelet that just needs to be bolted to the block somewhere. I also used an inlet manifold bolt at the back of the motor.

Then there are the power supply cables. Positive to a ign activated circuit, and negative to earth.

A couple of screws for the LED display and you're done.

The most time will be spent poking cables through the firewall.

This only shows the coolant alarm, not the temp alarm.

With the TM2 kit (special order - contact Davy), the low water buzzer & light (black cylinder with wires coming out) is replaced with the screen as seen in my pics, and the buzzer and light are fitted inside. You'll notice on the gauge there is the 3 digit readout for engine temp, a LED on the bottom left for Temp alarm, and another LED on the top right for Low water alarm. A push button is on the top left to set the alarm cut in for temp.

Ok which Dave do I have to chase up (theres a heap in the member list lol)? I want the special one (TM2? has both coolant level sensor and temp guage?). I will have someone 'proper' fit it as I remember seeing some where about needing to connect to an existing electric and to make sure you DON"T go to anything to do with brakes or airbags, which means of course, those will be the first two I'd try to connect lol.
Plus, though I'd manage the rest of it, I simply hate 'lectrics (wiring my trailer is as far as I will go)
