With a Rover motor there is no such thing as a quick rebuilt.
With most first life "Cast Iron" motors, you can strip them add new rings and bearings and they will come together and run fine for quite a period.

But it takes a special type of masakists to under take a "cheep" rebuild on a Rover.

So seeking that the Cheeky Rebuild is nearly ready to be put into the car

HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IT WILL RUN FOR

Lol it will prob last longer then my shoddy 4.6!

I think you have done a great job so far. Keen to see how your inlet manifold lines up given the amount of meat taken off the heads.

Mine was borderline, but has sealed up good for now!

Lol funny, only two votes and both the same...

By the way I have set the life expectancy of my 4.6 at just 6 months. I am already looking for its replacement lol, So that few extra months will give you ample time to source a LS motor!

djhampson for punting on 10 Days

Cheeky's new motor fired into life on the 2nd of September and was towed home on the 17th of September
15 Days and 220 km later.

I was driving around a round about and it just cut out dead.

I straight away thought of things I did or did not do, which could have gone wrong.

Taking the dizzy cap off, the rotor still turns. Maybe its not me.

An autopsy later reviled that she has not spark.
It does have power to the coil.

I am thinking that Mr Lucas has struck again....
Either the module or the pick-up coil....

Could my new coil cause a problem or was Mr Lucas just ready to give up????

Harry popped over this afternoon and was drafted into helping change the module

After Dr Harry had finished repositioning the distributor and changing the Module

Cheeky fired up first go.

A bit of a timing check and she goes even better than before, or ever for that matter.

I may have to move the leads one hole but, because I nearly run out of travel to get the timing correct

PS I am still wondering if my new coil caused a problem with Mr Lucas????
Has anybody else had a faulty dizzy module....

methinks if the new coil fried the old module, it would have fried the replacement, seems not.
