Hi All,

I was considering ordering some headlamp and taillight guards (LR black metal type) in from the UK. If I did so, I would have to install myself. I have had a look at Topix at the D3 install instructions - looks a little fiddly - I assume the D4 would be similar.

I was wondering if anyone had installed them themselves - if so, how was it? or are they better fitted by the dealer?

There actually plastic !
They can be fiddly & require a nutsert tool to make things easier.

I fitted both front and rear.

You get to see where the dust can get in.....inside the rear lights. You can see where the flares are attached. I decided to apply some sealant to the flare clips to where I could reach.

Front lights a little fiddlier as you need to pop out the front headlight, and grill.

With the rear you need to drill a hole....just make sure it's right because the plug won't fit if a smidgen too big.

I have the guards on my RRS. As Sniegy said, they're plastic with a metal bracket.

I will say this, with the front ones if by any chance you do happen to belt something with one, then the guard itself could survive at the expense of the headlight. I had a minor altercation with a wall last year and although the guard survived, the headlamp lense didn't and it cracked from the point where the bracket sits behind it. You can't buy a lense cover separately, it has to be a complete new light. £450.

Thanks for the replies.

Of all things, I nearly collected a large deer out the back of Coffs the other day.

That has made me think I might put my dollars towards a bullbar instead! Might just take a bit more saving up.

Where out the back of Coffs?

I have some Deer up there and also know most people with them, I'm curious as to who's Deer are on the loose.

Hi geedublya,

It was near the swan's road intersection on bruxner park road, so in from Korora is probably more accurate.

There was only 1 and apart from the fact it did not have reindeer antlers(which my 4 year old passenger was disappointed with!) I could not tell you much else.

I am afraid that probably does not help much.

Not too far from our place at Bucca. I suspect the one you saw was one of the escapees from the Big Banana.
