Ok now my brothers Td5 has a problem, a number of times when he has changed the engine oil filter and goes to drive it for the first time the oil pressure pops the filter seal consequently spewing oil EVERYWHERE which is not very convenient or nice!
So, is he just not doing the filter up enough or is it an indication of high oil pressure?? He reckons that he does the filter up more then enough so is getting concerned that its something else..
Anyone else had this problem? Any advice??

Check that an old seal from an old filter isnt still stuck there!
Then get a gauge and fit it in the place of the oil pressure switch and check pressure.

Hi Defendozer, the TD5 has two oil filters, one is centrifigal and up high. The other is in the worlds worst place for access, below the turbo/exhaust pipe work. It is a bugger to reach and undo. Which one is causing the trouble? Cheers, 130man.

That'd be my first guess. Know a fella who just buggered a Navara this way.

Its the one under the exhaust manifold that is the problem. We have only become aware of the other one recently, he has only had the car for a year and the Td5 is a new engine to both of us so not really sure. Where exactly is the second filter? And how often does it need changing?
And yes, an oil pressure gauge is on the menu!!
Thanks for the replies! Cheers Remo.
