what does the square bit on the inlet hose do,2003 disco 4ltr,and is it necessary.the hose has a broken bit were it joins,I have a similar hose but without the square bit.

It's a resonator, similar to an exhaust system muffler in function. Reduces intake noise, IE gets rid of some delicious V8 roar.:p

well,we can't have any v8 roar can we.on with the new hose then.:D
