R380 box issues

Hay all,
brought a second hand R380... I think i brought lemon.
There's exessive movement in the shifter like 3 iches, and i cant get 1,3,5 gears. 2,4, R good.
Is there SIMPLE fix?

First check the top of the box - the selector spring bias tongue sometimes fractures and gets stuck. And sometimes the grub screw securing the shifter bottom gets loose.

Second get a workshop manual, then take the R380 apart. If anything is amiss then you'll see it.

It's not that hard - if you read up how LR do it.

Here's one of my attempts - in the end it didn't work out well, but at least I learnt how a R380 is put together.

ps - check the serial number prefix - make sure it's a R380 not a LT77, which is near identical.
