View Full Version : Something fell off my car!

I washed the car this afternoon, and after I parked it in the garage and dried it off I noticed that below piece of rubber had fallen off. Whatever it is it is not very well secured, so I can only guess it is some sort of rubber stripping for transport only and maybe should have been removed at delivery.
Any ideas? It is about the size of a 40cm ruler, very thin rubber. It came off the front and was lying just under the front edge of the bumper on the ground.

maybe some one put this special piece of rubber in a secret hiding spot but then forgot where they put it

I'd expect it is a sealing strip around the air conditioner condensor or the radiator. Light weight to flex and allow air to leak out but not back in.

Bee Utey is spot on...
It runs along the radiator surround....

Is it needed? Should I put it back on?
Doesn't look to be very well secured. It just fell out.

Yes you should....
I'm guessing it was knocked loose whilst fitting bullbar or service.
It actually holds itself in quite well...

Thanks. No bullbar and certainly no service - car is only 3 weeks old.
I must have bumped it whilst washing the car, or the pressure from the hose has hit it or something.
Anyway, can you be more specific about where it goes? Top or bottom, access from above below, etc, etc.
Cheers

Yer,sort of fits along the top of rad.Took mine completely off & will leave it for dealer to rifit one day.It seals the gap between top of rad &plastic piece above rad,not real important but should be refitted to deflect air through rad correctly.
Not much thought went into it's design, there are probably heaps of them that have fallen off & the owners of the vehicles don't realise.

Thanks for the tip, helped me work out where it goes.
Removed the grill and it is now back in place. Not exactly well secured, and I would be very surprised if this hasn't fallen off numerous vehicles.

Mine fell off when I was driving through some long grass one day, i was fishing all the grass stalks out from behind the grille and I pulled that piece out along with some grass. The dealer put it back at the next service.

If the old garden hose makes this piece fall off, you should be careful using a Karcher on the Disco.....it might make the doors fall off.
