Lt77 Trouble.

While rebuilding my lt77, got to putting 5th gear on the layshaft and it slips straight on and can chatter, has movement on the splines, put the gear on another layshaft I had that had chewed a gear out and its tight on the splines of that layshaft. Ordered another layshaft turned up today and the gear still has the same movement on the new layshaft. Even still have a stuffed 5th gear that has chipped a tooth and its tight on the same old shaft that chewed the gear and has lose movement on the new laysahft.
Even on a closer look it looks like the splines on the old shaft are flater and wider and on the new shaft they look taller and more pointed.

The joys of not-made-to-spec parts. I've been through a similar problem. All you can do is keep trying other parts until you resolve it.
