Hi there. Anyone know if it is possible to get an adaptor to take an Anderson plug from a camper and plug it into the white socket in the bag of the D3?

What are you trying to achieve by tapping into this plug?

Well I am under the impression that this plug is used in the UK for providing power to caravans and trailers. I want to be able to plug an Anderson plug from a camper trailer which is used to charge a deep cycle battery Without having to install an Anderson plug connection in my D3.

Get Traxides kit with the High Current Anderson wire...

Then you'll get the actual power you need to charge a trailer / camper battery.

The factory plug isnt quite up to it....

I thought one outlet was Euro Trailer spec and the other outlet was North American Spec - neither has the capability to charge trailer batteries etc.

I would be running suitable cable and anderson plug direct for your main or preferably an ancillary battery system

Thanks for that, seems the dealer didn't know what they were talking about when they told me what that plug was.

No worries, I am getting the Traxide battery kit anyway, I will just get the one with the Anderson Plug.

You are quite correct in that the White plug (12S) provides power to the rear. It is also used for reversing lights. See this link (http://www.caravanninglinks.com/goto/page/38/Wiring_code_for_12N_and_12S_and_Foreign_13_Pin_soc kets)

Aaaah, interesting, so according to that link it may well be possible to make up an adaptor to adapt that port to recieve an Anderson plug.

Mate, that thin cable will have such voltage loss that your batteries will get almost nothing :o

The idea is sound, but the Link provided says "2.5mm2" cable... Thats nowhere near capable enough to be useful.

Oh well, I am having a proper Anderson plug installed anyway.

A cheap or even better option might be to remove the usless white plug and plug an anderson plug in that spot. Worked for me on my D3. I did put new heavier cable in as well.
