I'm trying to work out the shipping costs for a couple of LT85 gearboxes, but the only scales I have in the house are the wifes cooking scales, and they max out at 5kg :) Would anyone have an idea of the weight of the box without a bellhousing?
Cheers

~35kg for just the box with no bell housing or Tcase.

Thanks for that.

~35kg for just the box with no bell housing or Tcase.~35kg at sea level on Earth, other altitudes and on other planets the weight will vary!

Masses expressed in Kg are approximated in an earth standard gravity expressed with a gravitational acceleration factor of 9.8m/sec^2 for interplanetary/intergalaxial shipping please utilise the galaxial standard for reactive forces ie Newtonian Mass/m^3.
For Earth dwellers 1kg of stationary mass exerts approximately 9.80665 N of force perpendicular to the tangent of your normal orientation.
Please ensure that your packaging is designed and rated to constrain your load in all axes (fore-aft(x), up-down(y) and port-starboard(z)) to a minimum of 2.5 times the highest maximum delta V of the crafts indicated in your transit manifest.
For passengers accompanying their cargo during transit please
Dont forget your towel

Under no circumstances make eye contact with buggblatter beasts if they are being transported on the vessel you are aboard
Do not try the pan galactic gargle blaster unless you have prebooked your re-habilitation
Visits to Eccentrica Gallumbits can be arranged any time you are aboard any of our vessels pass through her erogenous zones in Eroticon 6.(*)
(*) these visits are not actively encouraged but since the crew is going to go there anyway we may as well try to make some coin off of it

There is a place at sea level in one of the central American country's like Panama , might even be Ecuador as it on the equator. The gravity is a bit more than any where else. Just a oddity that earth has with it`s gravity. But then again your not shipping you gear box from there are you? :)

It's all about the level of accuracy, which in this case is in the realm of 5kg increments. Any difference due to altitude or geographical location will have minimal effect overall when keeping with the tolerances required.
I am well aware that the mass will remain constant no matter the location, but unfortunately not many people are equipped to accurately measure now many newtons the gearbox in question has hidden inside the case.

the lt85 split case is good for about 250N on the input and the heavyduty around 350.
