With all the old state forests in NSW being handed over to National Parks to do the opposite of a Park (Park being a place Humans go to enjoy themselves)
That is put up gates to stop the humans entering.

Time to write to your MP, we need to speak up or the minority view will prevail

Wattiagn, Mebbin, Mt Mee Locked up :o:(

Really these areas need to be National Recreation areas they are not world heritage area. All have been clear felled recently

I believe that for every idiot that thinks jogging 100km in the bush is fun there are 1000 4x4 enthusiasts who enjoy driving their vehicle off road for the purpose of having fun.

Letter to NSW Minister

Dear Minister

I am writing to propose a policy which you may decide to adopt, which if implemented would better spread the wealth better between the City and Rural Areas.
Also make you popular with the silent majority of voters who value freedom and could stop a growing protest movement against your department in certain sectors of the community

What I am suggesting you adopt as policy for your department, is to split the National Parks into at least Two Categories.
1. National Heritage Parks
2. National Recreation Parks

The National Heritage Parks would be areas of great Environmental or Heritage Significance. These areas are generally well defined and have been National Parks for a long period of time and maintained as such.

National Recreation Parks could be areas which have limited Environmental or Heritage significance, except for keeping them as wooded areas.
These areas would require very limited supervision and funding. This could save the government much money or at least allow the department to concentrate their efforts on the actual areas that require their skills.

The type of area I envision could be re-classified National Recreation Parks would be the former State Forrest recently handed over to NPWS.
Parks are places where humans go for recreation, unfortunately it seams to us that National Parks takeover of an area invariably leads to Gates and Fences being erected in formally Free Access Land to Keep the Humans OUT.

An example of this would be the former State Forests at Wattigans or Moobal
Both these areas have been subject to extensive logging, almost since White settlement, in the case of the Wattigans the Heritage value is from the Bullock Trails which criss, cross the forest.

These areas have attracted recreational travelers for many, many years. These people bring much economical benefit to the regional areas adjacent to these types of area.
The restrictions recently placed on areas like these are leading to an online movement of protest which is growing.

I put to you that these types of areas should be designated as National Recreation Parks and allow freedom of access for 4 wheel drive vehicles, motorcyclist, hunters, weekend travelers, horse riders, hikers or whoever wishes to enjoy the area without permit or interference.

All that would be required is to open the gate, tell Sir Humphrey to stop worrying and turn his efforts towards the areas which have real Environmental or Heritage significance.
Some legislation maybe passed to protect government from law suit.
In any case how many claims have been made against the government from public use of State Forrest in say the last 50 years.

As a policy directive I suggest that there be a State Recreation Park every 200km up and down the coast of NSW. Thereby allowing every New South Welshman or woman freedom of access to an area, within 1 hours drive, where they and their family can drive and enjoy nature.

Yours

Letter to Queensland

Campbell, is copping flack for sacking public servants, because services might be reduced.
I can think of a few services from your department I could do without.
The Fun Police on Bribie Island beach or North Beach Noosa for example.
I could do without being stopped to check if my permit is in order.
Wvere are your Papers, Papers Snell

The Rule Nazis tramping around the Glass House Mountains, hiding behind trees or placing cameras in the scrub, to police the heinous crime of driving or riding on a dirt road.
For every 1 person who wants to run 100 km in the bush twice a year, there would be 1000 who wish to drive on the dirt tracks
Parks are places where humans go for recreation, unfortunately it seams to us that National Parks takeover of an area invariably leads to Gates and Fences being erected in formally Free Access Land to Keep the Humans OUT.

People have been driving cars on the beaches and dirt tracks since cars arrived in Queensland without interference from some very bitter and sad public servants.
These areas have attracted recreational travelers for many, many years. These people bring much economical benefit to the regional areas adjacent to these types of area.
The restrictions recently placed on areas like these are leading to an online movement of protest which is growing.

Some legislation maybe passed to protect government from law suit and decimalize the use of a vehicle for the purpose of having fun.

As a policy directive I suggest that there be a State Recreation Park every 200km up and down the coast of Queensland. Thereby allowing every Queenslander freedom of access to an area, within 1 hours drive, where they and their family can drive and enjoy nature.

This is a numbers game

If the minister receives my letter, that would be that.

If he receives 5 letters of similar theme, he will consider the issue

If he receives 50 letters you know he will do something.

Feel Free to copy this letter and post it in or better still draft it again in your own words.

Mark the envelope "Personal" that way it will get through.

Good luck to all of you for trying , but I have been through this back in Sydney, even to the point of having the local member spook at meetings etc bla bla . Absolute waste of time. These blokes have their own agenda and will not change.

I honestly believe the only way is to rally people , vehicles and media and say get together at a closed off area and protest. This way you are guaranteed of exposure. I would bet my left one any letters only make it to the shredder.!!!!!

The letters won't go in the shredder. Any letter sent to a Minister in Qld has to have a response. It will get sent down the chain in the Minister's department and some desk jockey will draft a letter or find an old letter that suits to send back up to the Minister. Their office has it signed probably digitally and sent.
If enough are sent and more importantly it is constantly in the 6 o'clock news then something might happen.

Having said that the Newman govt is already taking more of a recreational use aproach to national parks. National park control has been split from the environment dept and stuck at the leftovers table with sport and racing or something like that.
It was one of their pre election commitments.

The proof will be in the "pudding" so to speak, so I'll bet my right one that "SFA" is all that happens. It's a sorry but true fact that 4wders are at the bottom of the to do lists for these clowns.

That is correct if the letter is not marked "Personal"
Personal correspondence waits for the minister, it then depends on how good the minister is, you can tell from the reply if the minister has read and considered your point or just flick passed it on to the service to reply.
You need to make your point in the first paragraph and be no longer than 1 page

Pressure of this kind can pay benefits, with the correct government. As you say both the Newman and O'farrell governments have such commitments.

Now is the time to give them ammunition to fight the sad, joyless public servants with all his excuses why parks should stay locked up so humans can not play.

I recently drove "the Spanish steps" and "Lost World" in the Blue Mountains, 2 great areas for off-roading both closed and locked out, but recently reopened by local approaches to the minister.

All that it takes for evil to secede is for good people to do nothing...
