Rear seating and LPG - any rules on proximity?

I have a series 3 lwb hardtop with lpg tank mounted directly behind the seat bulkhead. I have a folding side facing troopy style seat (original landy one) which I want to fit but don't really want a seat on one side and not the other as it looks unbalanced, plus the obvious safety issues of side facing seats.

If I box in the gas tank so it is the same height as the side boxes, would it be safe/acceptable/legal to mount a seat on top of this above the gas tank? I know there are a lot of cars with gas tanks mounted under the rear - lets face it if a gas tank blows up it won't really matter if it is next to a seat or under it.

Also does anyone know if there is an issue with a side facing seat facing backwards?

The proximity of the gas tank to the seat is irrelevant, what matters is that the seat mounts to the body entirely separately from the gas tank mounts. Theoretically you will need an engineer to design your seat mounts to mount to two rails above the gas tank. Also you can't box in a gas tank without allowing "tool free" access to the control box, i.e. no bolts or screws requiring tools, only thumb screws or latches etc.

My plan was to use box section from an old s3 tub that will give me an enclosure matching the side boxes, and to then use a series tool box hatch with the turn button latch as the access point. Not sure if the plan will work but time will tell. As far as I know there is no specific requirement in Qld for mounting seats as long as the bolts and seat belt mounts are correct, at least this applies to side facing seats, not sure about front or rear facing, need to check up on that.
