just watched an interview after Tomic Lost to Roddick, and have to say Tomic was embarrassing, came across as arrogant, and full of it. I remember Laver, Roach, newcombe, and our local girl, Wendy Turnbull, this bloke is full of ****. Bob

I agree - all his life he has been told he is going to be the best player in the world - his problem is that he believes it and thinks he already is.

A poor ambassador for his sport and Aust - he needs to loose the attitude.

wow! one of the worlds best......
do you have the same attitude towards our loudmouth thugs in NRl and even AFL these days?
the other top players are just as arrogant.....they have learnt to disguise it in front of the media.
they all throw hissy fits, they all strut around like they should be worshipped.
Pat Rafter lost it a few times but no one flamed him.
To be at the pinnacle of a sport like tennis requires tenacity and attitude that no one here has.
Look at the worlds best soccer players...attitude? heaps.
look at the worlds top 100mtr runners...attitude? heaps....heads so big....Tomich is no different. He's a bloody brilliant athlete who has not learned to control years of extremely tough and dedicated training to achieve his current status.

Even when I think out loud I sometimes say : Pardon me ?

Cripes she was lovely tho.

Amazing that "we" put these tossers on a pedestal.

Just because they play a sport doesn't give them the right to be out and out

In this case, Tomic is a total bone headed ****...

With his Bright Orange BMW - Why does he get that? Because he plays Tennis? Seems exceptions to rules are bent for the 'infamous'.

Hope he gets a racket rammed over his fat head...

Inc, it is Monday morning :D

Now, back the topic, if you all think that he is an arrogant, then have a look how Ronaldo the player from Real Madrid is acting :(
I think that Tomic have to go trough the "school of life" like any other young person. Give him a chance. ;)

Geez, hard school !!

Obviously Tomic is confident athlete who has worked hard to not only be the best Australian male but ranked pretty high on a world scale. I expect he has earned the right to be a bit arrogant.

And who at aged 18 or 19 or what ever he is would not like a bright yellow M3 !!!

Now is he a bit of a tosser for reacting that way YES.

However he has just played a shocker, walked straight ot the press conference and been asked a lot a stupid questions about how do you feel about losing, do you agree you tanked blah blah blah.

I think the bigger issue these guys have is making sure they have someone who drives home some reality in their life and brings them back to earth be it family of friends or whatever, that may be missing wiht Bernard were everyone tells him how great he is and forgets to tell him to pull his head in now and then, lose the attitude and buy a land rover then everyone will know you are a realist but slightly strange at the same time !!!

At least he is not out on the sauce getting nto fights and being a real ****** like 10% of the NRL players etc.

Regards,

George

No-one has the right to be an arrogant **** ;) (says me, an arrogant ****)

Who wouldnt like a shiny M3 - Lots of people would like one.
But the law says most people that age can't have one...

So what makes this individual so special - Nothing...

Everyone else has to wait - so should he.

The way we raise sports players to the upper echelon of society dazzles me.
Like actors and actresses, these people are just "doing a job".

One could go as far as to argue that they contribute nothing to society - they dont produce anything tangible...

They earn an obscene amount for doing these 'jobs' whilst those who do contribute a lot to society get very little by comparison.

Whilst they entertain the masses, and sell product by endorsement, they are nothing more than entertainers, there to provide a level of enjoyment for the viewing public.

As such - they - should pull their heads in, get on with their jobs and do it politely.

I do however, agree 100% that the media are also ***** that need a good hard kicking!!!!

Being a young male with a degree of skill and experience in a few areas, I get what people are saying in that youth + wealth + fame = a slightly inflated ego :p
But, as Tombie says. Doesn't give him the right to be a ****.
The thing that really ****s me is when you look at how much sports stars, actors, etc get paid for a single game or performance, it's more than your average soldier/cop/ambo/fire fighter earns in an entire year.
The people who risk their lives in such a manner should get paid more than someone who can swing a racquet IMHO.
Cheers

It is not their fault, it is the public that it is prepared to pay hundreds of dollars to see them and also shop for products that this sport people sponsor.

Also mention what the public likes, I just wonder if it will be political popular if the government instead of allocating in the budget $ 170 million dollars to the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australia's (for the elite athletes to remain competitive) and only $43.9bn to extend the program to 31 December 2012 for the Active After-school Communities Program which provides primary school children with access to free sport and other structured physical activity programs after school, will change that around and allocate only $43.9 to the AISA ?

You can bet what the public like, just medals for few which many of them will become wealthy and bugger the schools ;)

Remember a Hero isn't a fireman going into a burning building or a Paramedic defibing an arrest patient,in Oz REAL hero's run onto the football field after straining a pinky or getting paid an unbelieveable amount of money playing after rehab or going to talk to sick kids at the hospital after getting done for drink driving, they are the real hero's. Actually most people would want the money spent at schools,Olympic athletes worked and trained and won long before the AIS was around, todays ''Athletes'' are a bunch of pre madonna's who think they can make it on talent alone, they should spend more time training and less time doing underware commercials. I don't see them complaining when they get paid ;)
As has been mentioned in a recent thread, Australia's overall reception of those who put themselves in harms way is appalling.
5 soldiers killed? Gets put in the paper, footage of the funeral, minute of silence at the footy.
Sports star gets busted for DUI?
Running media feeding frenzy, various people "in the know" get called in to make statements, calls for this that and the other.
They play a game ffs. They make more in a year than probably a soldier, ambo, cop and fire fighter do put together for 10 years.
Is anyone really surprised when celebrities do stupid ****?
They get told again and again how good they are, they get paid by the truckload and we expect them to be well behaved little children.
Give the money to schools, health services, increasing the average diggers pay, whatever, something that benefits the nation, not some footy players hip pocket.

We may be being a bit rough on Tomic, but I've just watched an interview with the manager of the Aus. Paralympic team, one of the very first blade runners. If you want inspiration, and people to admire, you couldn't do better than focus on these athletes. Davis Cup Captain, Pat Rafter is quoted as saying Australia's best young tennis players get too much [ quote] " wind blown up their backsides "[ unquote ] before they have achieved the amount of glory needed to be considered a success story [ his words] Rafter will take Tomic aside before the Davis Cup , apparently, to give him some home truths. However, as the paralympic team manager said, it's a pretty humbling sight to walk thru the athletes dining room and see severely disabled athletes eating with chopsticks in their feet, because they have no arms. And then compete , asking for no favours, and certainly for no pity. Compared to them, Tomic is an immature tool. Bob

Mate, I hope that you are correct :)
Have a look how many parents go to see the schools sports activities and then look how many people pay a fortune to see the elite athletes. :(

I used to pay whatever they asked, without question, to watch Sue Barker play at White City.
One day I was standing at the edge of the practice court when she miss hit a ball. I returned it to her and she gave me that smile that lit up the universe and said thanks.
Well I tell you !!! I went weak at the knee's and thought I was going to wet myself.
Fair dinkum
