Well,
I cant say much but bugger! SWMBO managed to back into the farm ute parked next to her (despite parking sensors/rear view camera)
Clearly my fault....just need to come up with how that is
Anyway - minor damage - broker rear left tail light. - very lucky the tray of the ute did not push into the body work somewhere.
Anyone know what the cost might be for a replacement assembly? and where I might get one (at a reasonable rate)?? I assume they are not hard to replace?
I expect to completely bent over by the stealer - if fact I can hear them laughing already - and I have not even called them yet!
Any advice appreciated..

Very easy to replace the unit yourself, on a D3 it is anyway. Don't know the cost but can't imagine it is cheap. Might be worth seeing what you can dig up on the net.

Google LR014003 (disco 4) - there are a quite few at a price would think much cheaper than the dealer.
Seems to be plenty on eBay & Paddocks has them:
Land Rover, Range Rover Parts & Accessories - Discovery, Defender and Freelander (http://www.paddockspares.com/catalogsearch/advanced/result/'sku=LR014003)
They seem to be about 150GBP ~ 230AUD

Hi Gotaflat,
Only last week l noticed someone had backed in to my D4 driver's side tail light. Like you no panels or rear glass was damaged (lucky l guess ). The local dealer wanted AUD$627.
Contacted Dan Roberts at Duckworth Land Rover (UK) who has helped me with a few prior purchases. GBP120 for the light itself, GBP72 for delivery. So approximately AUD$300 all up. You need to provide your VIN as there are a few tail light variations.
Replacement instructions are in your handbook, but basically unscrew the 2 phillip head screws located close to the rear door seal, get a firm grip on the light top and bottom and pull straight backwards. There are 2 plastic pegs close to the outer edge. And if you break it, don't worry. No harm done ......:D
I hope this helps. Regards Trif.

Did you park the ute there? Is it your ute or Disco? Ownership means responsibility, unless it's her car and you damage it then it's your fault.
Goes with the whats yours is hers and whats hers is hers.

Mine did the same thing but she backed into a b...... Great off road caravan !
I shopped every where, there were no used d3 left side lights in Aust plenty of right side.
Eventually got a pair of D3 lights from the UK. Landed here for A$400 a bit under what I could get one for here in Aust, eBay sale.
Good luck - dead easy to change.

Thanks everyone.
I am exploring a few online options. Looks like i can get one here for about $376 AUD.
The power of todays Aussie $$ is good for imports.
Thanks for advice. once I get a price from the dealer will let you all know. (they have not rung me back yet)
