Hi there,
I have a 2000 model defender extreme with the standard Land Rover branded bull bar. It is quite similar to an ARB bar and has cut outs and holes to mount a winch but I have had trouble finding a winch that will fit!
Does anyone have the bar im talking about and if so any info on winches?
Thanks a lot!

Sweet!
I've tried fitting a champion C9500 HS which seemed like a great winch but the motor end was too long. The winch itself phyisically fit in the bar but because the motor end was too long it meant the mounting holes didn't line up.
I'm going to try the Magnum 9000lb winch so I'll let you know how that goes
Cheers

I think Im going to go the Tigerz11 cheap, reliable (hopefully) its had ok reviews here and elsewhere and the Defender is too good.
I have been bogged badly every year religiously for about the last 7 years much to my wifes amusment. That was until I got the defender. Almost coming up to my two year aniversary with out a bogging. Maybe Im not trying hard enough.

I had to offset my winch mount when I fitted one. Note the offset holes so the motor cleared the chassis rail. Additional reinforcing added to rear or course.

Isuzurover,
Yep thats the exact problem I have but thought I'd rather not tamper with the bar if I could find a winch that fits!
Pormpaul,
I know a guy who got 12000 tigerz11 winch and he loves it! Doubt that would fit either though and I think the magnum comes out of the Warn factory so hoping for a quality product.
Anyway hoping I rarely have to use it! Did some of the powerlines tracks the other week on all terains with low tread and the traction control blew me away! such capable vehicles.
Also i see Fossicker under your user name. I know this isn't the hobby section but any chance you could give me some advince on where to do a bit of gold panning??

I think fossicker refers to the number of posts of made here not due to any hobby or past time. But I hear stories of people finding lots of stones and gold out here. A lot of Tourists come out and go through the old diggings and apparently do pretty well.
If your ever coming through let me know and I will try and hook you up.
I cant weld so which winch will bolt straight in!
cheers

Sweet that was easy! Any chance you could send us a picture of your bar to see if it's the same as mine?
Cheers

I have a D2 with ARB winch bar. Tigerz11 12000lbs Grande winch bolted straight in. hardest part was routing cables to battery so they would be exposed.
Don't plan on leaving it in all the time, so set it up so that it only take about 30 min to put in/ take out. Going away over October long weekend so can't wait to try it out pulling out my mates Patrol.

A mate has the same bar pictured[genuine land rover] above, supercheap winch fitted but we couldnt rotate the gear lever around to line up with the cut out in the top so had to reach underneath, the winch **** itself on the 2nd pull and he replaced with a warn xd9000[same as mine] where you can rotate the gearbox around to line up with the cut out, easy fit with a better quality product. It is my understanding that most winch bars are designed/complianced to fit a warn xd9000[ mates late model pootrol has it written on the arb sticker.]
