I've got a GME 4705 Antenna on the bullbar of a Defender I've picked up recently. Unfortunately it's too long remain on the car to park in my garage.

I've tried to remove the radome (as I believe is possible with all the 4700 series antenna) by removing the small grub screw but I've pushed, pulled, twisted and sworn and the damned thing but it remains stuck fast.

How much effort should be involved in removing the antenna from the spring base? Is it something I should try and tackle again after a 24hour soaking in WD40?

Thanks in advance!

Should just unscrew like a normal bolt...

I've had to use vicegrips on mine before! On the aluminium body only though, not the fibreglass.

It's happened to us too. It should unscrew but we have had to use WD40 more than once.

Thanks for the replies.

I managed to free the antenna with a bit of gentle vicegrip work.
