Pure class. Makes all other "luxury" SUV look like the pretenders that they actually are. RR created the segment, and it is still the best there is.

No one other SUV has such breath of capability.

The knockers will still highlight the rim sizes are 19-22" with those massive brakes.

Shame there is no talk of the TDV8 in an upgraded spec, similar to what they did to the TDV6.

Yes that is bound to happen. The 3.0 D4 suffers the same problem. Fortunately these days you can get quite reasonable 19" and 20" off road rubber.

At the end of the day though, there is no escaping the fact that off road ability is compromised by the large wheel sizes - but I guess there is no way around it, higher performance requires bigger brakes. Still I am sure the L405 will be able to out perform any other luxury SUV out there off road.

I noticed they are calling the 3.0 V6 "TDV6" in the L405 as opposed to "SDV6" in the D4. Impressive performance from this engine because of the big weight reduction. 0-100 in 7.9 secs :)

The more I see of it, the less I like it...:(

The back looks like a Sport - way too much angle on the top tailgate, and that will have compromised interior space big time. The classic Range Rover bonnet look is almost gone now - just a couple of shallow lines to show what once was....

The front looks like and Evoque - which I like, but why do we need the Rangie to look the same as that???

Interior does look bloody good though... Unfortunately the general public will be even less likely to be able to tell the difference between this and the Sport, so it has failed its brief big time IMO.

Good job they made the previous model for so long - it will be many years before I need to think about looking at one of these to add to the collection...

Less than impressed - Gav.

You can focus on getting yourself a decent P38a for now then Gav!

Bugger no third row for the family... Will have to pass and refocus on getting the county sorted again!

Probably less issues with the county and certainly less yelling at the little ones!

If you can convince my missus that that is a good idea, then I'm all for it. Make sure your life insurance is paid up before you try this though...:D

Yes...

The 'Range Rover' brand is using the black 'Land Rover' oval, previously used on the Supercharged cars.

They've upgraded it by putting it on a diet. Loosing 420kg means that they get TDV8 performance with the TDV6. Here are some more numbers that have recently been thrown at me:

* 0-100 5.1sec
* 900mm wading
* 37.7mpg

That's 7.25 Lts pre 100 Kms.

That's not bad for a 2+ tonne 4x4

Indeed...

I should be getting some time in the 405 later this week so I'll be monitoring what I get in 'real life'.

...in reality, it'll depend on the terrain and how it is being driven!

Relying on the trip computer or actual fuel used?
