Hi all,
Was just cleaning the defender (2002 extreme) when I pulled on the steering wheel to sit up straighter and the wheel came off in my hands...
(glad I was not doing a 100 down the highway )
Nut was loose inside the cover. Ive put steering wheel back on but Should there be a washer between the nut and wheel???
Thanks

yeah there is a lock washer.

similar to the ones on brake lines, with little external fingers.

Lock washer was missing. Someone must have had the steering wheel off and not replaced it. Can I use a standard washer and bend the sides up...
