So the AFP has announced it has doubled its asset seizure program to almost $100 million in the last 12 months following a change in strategy. Conservative estimates put the drug trade in Australia at $1 billion a year so that means they are scoring a hit rate of 10% not very impressive and hardly a worthwhile deterrent and they don't say what they actually spent on their anti drug task force in the same period bet it was more than $100 million

No wonder we have a drug problem and endless supply of criminals involved you really don't risk much for the rewards you get

What about 10% fewer drug overdoses and 10% less associated crime to feed the habit? ;)

A Qld. copper just got sprung doing some seizure of assets on his own account. He pocketed a bundle of cash from a stash found on a drug bust before calling a colleague to witness and count. The perps had a covert cctv camera and dobbed him in.

So, are you being critical of the AFP agents and their operations ?
or the pollies that give them insufficient man/womanpower, funding and resources ?

Differentiating the "power" of men Vs the "power" of women is sexist.

:sigh:
Yes, I should have used the term 'staffing', unfortunately my flu addled brain didn't elicit it at lunchtime.......

i am being critical of police for failing and the politicians who continue to refuse to look at more practical ways of dealing with the drugs issue.
The so called war on drugs has been going for 40 years plus and hasn't achieved any form of significant success anywhere in the Western World and we have spent billions on it.
But if you re going to continue with this futile policy than you would want a much higher success rate than 10% if you are going to say you are being successful or you are having a real negative impact on the flow of drugs or are hampering the drug lords in their activities.

The "war on drugs" helps buy conservative votes. Any government that voted in drug law relaxation would be out on its ear before you can say "bong".

You chose to take offence at my choice of words, the choice is entirely yours, not the intent or implication of the words used.
If you still think I'm sexist and demeaning towards women all it does is show the limit of forums such as this as, ie. it demonstrates you know absolutely nothing of me.

You chose to take offence ...The problem is that in your trying to be "politically correct" (PC) the result discriminated against women.
It would have been preferable if you left it as manpower, which while not PC doesn't discriminate by making women differently powered. It's why we now have Police and not Policemen and Policewomen and Firefighters instead of firemen and firewomen.
As I said up front, it's me being pedantic.
What annoyed me was that Ausfree is feels free to take offence but I'm not free to do likewise!
