Came across these handy apps for the iPad or smartphones for NSW RFS. I just checked the Sydney area and there are 8 controlled burns going on around Northern Sydney at the moment.
Nice to know they are controlled burns.

Cheers

I wonder if there's an App to get the office blokes to get the stuff we really need including getting some more truck licenses organised instead of just changing the locks on the shed ?

There is also one for the SA CFS.

Very handy for those that either live in the area's, or may be passing thru.

One thing to note with this app -
If the fire you look at is marked as 'Unmapped' then the pin will be at the centre of the Local Government Area and NOT at the fires actual location.

I thought individuals held licenses.

They do, but the RFS organises the training and testing so it doesn't cost us, and we're 60km or so from the nearest RTA anyway.
There's a whole bunch of stuff we needed/asked for 6 months ago including learners permits, etc and we're still waiting.

Only two people are currently licensed to drive our Cat 1, and they both work shifts in the mines 80km away.
Actually there's three, one of the local barmaids has her license too, but she lives in town 10km away.

One of the trucks needed a battery two weeks ago so the captain reported it and told them he had a battery there and could fit it straight away (he's a tyre a tyre service and sells batteries)

A week later and still no ok or battery so the Cap had a hissy fit and the reply was "we need to get the Shire up and fit one" (the Shire depot is 30km away)
The Shire just buy from the tyre service in town and it's more exxy than what the Cap would charge
