Thanks for the vids George!

Was an interesting trip. Unfortunately I did not once even take the camera out of the bag (sorry Pete), so have no images to add :(

I would like to say that City View is shaping up to be a very good park (particularly for a day trip, until decent facilities are available). Unfortunately it has been hindered by many rumours about tracks being closed and tracks being too hard.

The rumours could not be further from the truth. The park does indeed have some very challenging terrain, the lower valley section is a touch more difficult then it used to be.
But it also has a vast array of easier terrain for the beginner.
The only areas that have been closed off are the banks and the creek around the lower camp site. This is due to heavy erosion from the previous competitions that were held in this exact area, washing away the banks that had been driven etc. This area is roped and is slowly being nursed back to good health.

I feel we need to promote this park as best we can cause after chatting with Steve both up at the office and further down at the creek, he is struggling to keep the park going and it would be a damn shame to loose it altogether.

Thanks again to all that came along for the day, unfortunately we had a number of issues after first investigating the creek sections, which was fairly entertaining, increasingly entertaining once Harry had arrived :D
I think Harry's next project should be a military vehicle.... more importantly a large military vehicle.... maybe a M1 Abrams could be sourced cheap on ebay!

We headed back to the green grassed area at the top of the old city view competition grounds for a bite to eat and a beverage.
George had to retire his disco for the day due to some front suspension bush issues (i'll let George tell that story if he so wishes :D).
Which was a shame as I felt he didn't get a fair drive of the park.

So we were down to three as the rovermates had already departed us in search of tougher terrain and to have a look at Cals Canyon.
We headed off to Daniel's Dragway and three minutes later we have Harry on the radio mentioning he had a pulsating brake pedal :confused:
So back to the grassed area to investigate... what we discovered was a lose front wheel bearing... so out with the tools and off with the drive flange.

Ow.... a loose bearing was the least of the problem... what Harry seemed to have achieved was a spindle and possibly bearing outer races running on dried up, overheated metal paste & shavings :eek:

It was at this point that I decided we would call it a day, and aid Harry in his return to Beaudesert where RACQ would once again come to the rescue.
It's becoming all to familiar lately :angel:

Well its simple .Im a d******d :D .I forgot to put the backing plate /washer on the new qt arms . The result was that the bush just disintegrated . Still made it home with no wobbles to my surprise .

i shoulda checked the wheel bearings some time ago after swimming, had nothing to do with trying to move rocks:o.

I struggle to find time for trip reports these days, so here's a bullet point version! :)


I'm in love with Grimace's Krawlers (sucks they only make them in super wide or super large diameter!)
My rear locker is stooopid .....yes, leaking again, which meant I didn't attempt some of the tracks "just in case". I did have fun trying to do as much as possible unlocked though!

Darren has given the 110 a new life (great to see it doing the tough stuff .....eh Josh! :p )
Feel sorry for George, as he didn't get much of a drive!
Must carry spare wheel bearings in future! Although I suspect by the look of it, Harry may struggle to remove the bit 'welded' onto the stub axle!?

Hi George,
I do fancy creepies, but a little unsure on using a cross ply tire for road work, especially towing the camper!

it seems one should check wheel bearings after swimming at pebbly beach,
i had done all the fluids, but not bearings.

so i killed the bearings, the stub [yep, no point in trying to remove the bearing!]
the hub was also shot.
ebay to the rescue with a new stub kit, and found spares at home to replace the hub and bearings.

hmm, need to approach rocks differently, maybe faster!
